| How do you get the trainer to actually allow you to pick the skill? My friend and I tried this and I could see the book icon on the trainer for less than 1 second after it was charmed. My guess is you have to root the trainer since it warps to the priest about 1 sec after being charmed but that's just a guess. |

+1 Internets | Not exactly ... Just takes a little creativity, a little know how, and a lot of patience. As for the mechastriders ... you can keep 'em. I'll take a tiger over a rusted out "radio shack special" ostrich any day. |

| from what i am picking up from the forums, each race on a specific faction can ride each other's mounts (by spending skill points) but not cross faction ATM (horde cannot ride alliance mounts and vice versa). Being able to do so has been reported as being an "oversight" but blizzard is currently reviewing if this should be allowed to happen when the game goes live. Any knowledgable people in beta would like to comment on the validity of this? Also, personally, I think being able to ride another faction's mount is really cool. BUt it has to come at the price of costing hella lot of skillpoints, and/or quest (like finding the sekret vendor that will sell the mount to u since u cannot go into the other faction's town) or working on faction so u can stroll up into ogrimmar as a gnome and buy it. Raptors really look kick ass.

Currently there are blocks in place to disable the ability to learn cross faction mounts, but some creativity will get you by them (there is absolutely NO griefing or exploiting involved, you just have to use the tools at hand in new and interesting ways ). It was said that this is only possible for alliance characters wanting horde mounts (it is certainly much easier) ... well, we decided to prove them wrong. Aside from being a major pain in the ass to do, it still requires 100+ gold per mount (it cost us 250 for the two of them), and 1000 skill points to train (compared to the 400 for your own race's mount). I wouldn't even mind seeing it become even harder to accomplish, if that's what they have to do.Now, a lot of people with bruised egos are whining on the forums because apparently riding the other faction's mounts is a "serious game balance issue". Personally I think it'll be a fairly large black mark on Blizzard if they decide to remove the ability entirely, and cater to this kind of baseless player whining. Removing functionality/emersiveness that in NO WAY detracts or even affects the game at all, simply because some little kid's pussy hurts, is not the way to design a game in my opinion. If they do decide to remove it, I think they'll be setting a pretty dangerous precedent. | |
