Seem like some cool people.

With respect to the "looks" of a characters gear, I like variation, but I don’t like "required" gear. Let me explain, I don’t like that all lvl X type Y class must have breastplate of uberness Z to be viable & wanted in a group. In VSOH, how important is it to the devs to ensure as many variations in characters looks exist as possible throughout the characters leveling as well as at the "end game". To elaborate some more, will character creation (& I guess progression) allow for alternative & yet viable "looks" a character can have. So all lvl 10 warriors for example won’t look the same (whether it is because all amours look the same or an item is the only 1 every one "has" to get)? I don’t understand why every Paladin/warrior melee char in EQ had to have an FBSS (flowing black silk sash)...would it have been that hard to make a yellow one, red one & blue one & put them on other mobs?
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

The answer they give to that is comforting to hear.

Try the usual tweaks.

usePrecaching = True
2GB static swapfile
Defrag your harddisk

And useLowQualitySound = True.

There are more detailed tweak guides on the web. It's 4 am so I'm not going into details.

Because we all know how impossible it is to ship a MMOG these days where you don't have to fuck around with settings to get the thing to run smoothly. But it's FUN to fuck around with Windows settings !!!!

Some games are just worth the extra work, Hiram.

Doesn't make them any less awesome of a game. His is a system specific issue, because my roomie loading up his 2 gig dual core single 8800gts system had zero issues and runs the game on max settings at silly high resolution with 40+ fps in all instances and minimal hitching. This is out of the boxes from newegg and just drivers and windows updates installed.

So yeah, HI.

So, do you know how to fix the problem where when you hit a zone boundary the game loses mouse lock and the mouse can move off the edges of the game window and cause it to lose focus ?

Do you (or anyone) have a link to a thread or site with more detailed info on tweaks like this? I'm currently getting not so bd framerate. like 25 FPS, and would like to improve it a little bit.
Thanks in advance.

No game is worth having to screw around with core windows stuff like swap files. It would be one thing if *every* game out there forced you to do this, or if it was common place in the industry, but it is not. Personally, to me this seems like soddy workmanship, it's not like the programmers don't know about the windows swap file size (default) and don't know how much crap they need to move around in memory.

There really is no excuse for that in a 3rd gen (chronological) game. Of course if you want this to be a barrier to entry on your game, and keep all the non tech savy people away, well then you are right on the fucking mark.

a large static pagefile has more benefits beyound game performance, if you do a lot of work with large programs.. I've personally had my swap file large since I started going to college, due to the nature of the software I've been issued.

Its also very simple to change your swap file size. You simply go into settings, change it to the right size (thank you guides all over the internet, if you don't know), and defrag your swap file.

You are wrong. Some people go through 8+ hours queues to get a game/console/movie. Some people fucking camp in front of stores. So, yeah, reading 10 posts on three different boards to get a performance boost isn't a big fucking deal.
