| EQ 2 Fanfaire Movies...... Pretty interesting! http://k2.org/ffvegas040304/ Game does not look that bad based on those short snippets. I guess time will tell. At least they got their character animations right, unlike EQ1. But the combat was not relly impressive. They said that this was gonna be a faster paced game, I didnt get that feeling from those fight scenes. What do you guys think from watching those movies?

+14 Internets | The UV and the Infrared looked nice. The combat animations reminded me of SWG a bit. The engine will need a tweak though to fix that chop it got when the character entered the town/heavy woods. Btw, wtf is with the trolls? They look like gremlins ;/ GIZMO KAKA!!!

| I like how in eq2more when he attacks the dear and it starts to walk. You can note how it jumps 5 feet straight up in the air as it walks over a shrub. Not that i'll be playing eq2, but i'd hate to think that people would be missing out on things like npc's getting stuck out of reach on the scenery, or giants walking over trees instead of around them. It just wouldn't be everquest without the fun things that have made eq the wonderful game that it is. I for one would hate to think people might have to form tactics against something other than the bugs in the engine. on a serious note, when you have to walk around looking at the ground because you can't handle the video lag.....and you're trying to display a game you're pushing....why bother. | You do realize that most "Fall 2004" releases mean in time for X-mas right? That's up to 7-8 months away, depending on how close they want to cut it to X-mas season. (Which honestly is probably about the same timeframe you'll see WoW launch...) Not to mention how lenient most companies are about sticking hard and fast to release dates these days.... I really don't get fanboying - but then again, I never got so personally offended by MS to try Linux either.... |

| There was an issue on the big screen where there was some lag because of memory etc on the projector, but on the computer I was using, combat moved REALLY fast, even during our raid with 30+ models on the screen (and when onyxraven from eqii trained us with like 50 goblins) there really wasnt any lag. Downtime is also almost non-existant. More to come that you can check out on www.TheRunes.net for my full writeup later this week. |

+1 Internets | I had sworn that I would never buy another SoE product, much less EQ2... but those videos are really leaving an impression on me. I really liked the dragon video, especially when the boxes started burning... Who knows, assuming they can get the fps to a decent speed, this game could be worth the first free month =/ |

+1 Internets | Just to note, didn't read any earlier replies. Someone noted the framerates aren't that good, and they're right. Considering the fact they are probably running the game on the top of the line gaming PC to make it run as good as possible. I still dont think the animations are that good. Running just looks...wrong. I'd like to see them try and run the game with 74 people in a raid situation, all casting spells , attacking, etc. Not "Hey! Here we have one large rat moving on the screen and the FPS still sucks" Last edited by Burning_Samurai : 04-06-2004 at 06:53 AM. |

| I love how on the Test machine they were using to show off the game during eqbegin.wmv clip they had to go into options and turn the graphics down to increase the performance. Its comical how choppy the game was during the newbie intro. Maybe If i win the lottery I'll get this game, and me and the other 10 players with T1's and 5k dollar computers can group up and kill goblins. |

+1 Internets | I was reading on another forum that the machines they were using only had 512 ram in them... whereas they thought they were running with 1 gig, and so the settings were set to play on the 1 gig machine, not the 512. Just what I read, so don't keel meh~. Also: I am 99% sure they said that max raid size in EQ2 was gonna be 24, so I don't think you should ever have 50+ peeps on screen unless there is some awesome event, or a trading area. |

| The one thing I didn't like was how everything felt so boxxed up. You were in a meadow, but then you had canyon walls right next to you. Also, there seemed to be a clear delineation between 'zones'. You walked up a small staircase to a hole in the wall, then walked down the other side. Seems rather unrealistic. The ocean is awesome though. I think they might have gone too high tech overall though. I think their world designs will suffer from that. I love the huge open Vistas of WoW. Something which you don't get from looking at the EQ2 videos. |
