| You do realize that finding retardation on Battlenet is like finding sand on the beach, all you have to do is look. Personally I don't mind all that much, you need retards in an MMORPG just like anyone else. They perform the valuable function of being the baseline by which others look heroic in comparison. It's like how you can't have knights without peasants to support them. |

| Some the friends part of the alpha came from tft, hence the bnet. Nothing so far leads me to belive that blizzard wants to make this a d2 clone. Hopfully they see its a minority yelling for lvl1 mounts, instant transportation between towns, and an "Ultimate ability" at lvl 6. |

| Expect to see more movement type complaints in the future as well. People are just realising just how huge this gameworld is. Its big, very very very big. The people complaining about small penalties when you die, haven't died out in the middle of bumblefuck nowhere at the bottom of a dungeon yet. The flight paths really rock, but even then it takes a long long time to get place to place. I think mounts at level 40 will be a great thing, and its definately going to be a big goal for people when they're available. That said, despite moving around is REALLY frustrating sometimes, it does force you to see the world by foot first. Who knows, maybe in 5 years when everyone is entire sick of spending an hour trying to get somewhere, there will be WoW ports in some expansion ... I can honestly see them doing this at some point in its far far future. But thats just me. |

+1 Internets | The RTS people worry me. A lot. RTS' are such fast-paced games, and the rewards are so different. Someone in-game asked me something about the maps. I assumed he meant the minimap, or the thing that pulls up when you hit "M". Nope, he meant the WORLD. |

| Everyone say to themselves: "They will be gone once retail comes because all the decent MMOG players will come in and destructicate them." MMORPG players and RTS players cannot coincide in one world; it's the reason SWG failed. Star Wars nerds and MMOG players don't mix. |

| You know what I miss the most about everquest? Running. Granted, that sounds stupid. But I remember the first time I ran from Freeport to Quenyos. I saw so much of the game and had such a good time seeing zones that I had never been in (around lvl 20 at this point) that it was a blast. Running in East Karana down from highhold - you got the feeling that there was history to that area, the ancient weatherworn faces looking down from the sides of the cliffs. That was cool. (Plus, it got my sense heading skill up a ton - nothing like jamming on the button while running for 45 minutes). Nothing also was scarier at that level then realizing I was in the middle of Kithkor and night was falling... Or when I died in North Karana from a hillgiant while camping that stupid ghoul that droped the piece for the cleric Sol Ro bracers and finding myself bound in Fironia Vie. That was frustrating, but also it made the game more challenging - and the relief factor was a lot bigger when I ran into a druid that was on at 2 in the morning. The PoK books and the Nexus spires to a lesser extent have ruined that feeling. Just yesterday I saw an Ogre, level 1, asking what was the home town of the Ogres and which book he should use to get there, and I wanted to smack him. Hopefully, WoW will NEVER make travelling trivial. Easier maybe at the high levels, but never simple and never something that you don't even consider. |

SoE saw that some travel was inconvenient in EQ, and instead of adding some things like the occasional gate potion or whatever, fixed the leaky faucet with a h-bomb, and made travel so trivial, it ruined that sense of scope. | |

| I think one of the main aspects these people do not grasp is that it is an evolving WORLD. It would really take away from playing your char if that (the world aspect) dynamic was taken away. I don't like when MMORPG's become easier, it ruins the fact you are practically living in there; hence the RPG direction a game revolves around. I'm having some difficult explaining what I mean, maybe someone could elaborate lol. You ARE the character, ingame, essentially. I loved running from Kelethin to Qeynos, as the above poster said, it is very enjoyable. I was dissapointed when Luclin included the Nexus ports, then even more so when PoP introduced the port stones. Such a shame. |
