WoW Naming Policy: Summary - don't make stupid names

Some of it's seeming harsh, but personally I'm tired of idiotic names like "BouncyTittyElf" for one, among others.

While it was expected, the naming policy is a welcome sight. Now all we can hope for is getting rid of those damn capital letters in the middle of names.

Yeah - while these repercussions may seem harsh, I feel very strongly that these names have no place within Azeroth due to their extremely idiotic nature.

That link only shows them as paper tiger. It probably wasn't even worth the effort for them to type that out since they never showed any fortitude when coming down on players or potential players in the past They tolerated obscene names on their message boards, they tolerated stupid names in Alpha (judging from the screenshots) and they are tolerating stupid names in beta. I really doubt they will spend much time policing names in the final product unless they get a lot of complaints.

And you know that almost every immature jackass will think he is clever by coming up with something the filters do not catch. So you will see all the stupid names that you see in every other game in WoW too.

PS: Do players eventually get last names as they did in EQ, or is everyone relegated to just a single name?

As far as I'm concerned that's not harsh enough. I fucking hated seeing stupid names in EQ. Any brand-name, use of slang, etc...get that out of the game, at least make the retards appear to have some dignity

EQ sadly is the ONLY game to enforce proper naming policies.

SWG pissed me off. Got sick of 1000's of names like:

So-Cool-Dude, or DeadMAN-KILLjoY

Fucking have NORMAL names. It ruins the RPGness of this shit.

Yeah for some reason Sony seems to have retained some integrity on this matter. Even after Luclin and through PoP when the Vision had flown the coop I still know of people getting names yanked. SWG and FFXI are rampant with stupidity in the naming department.

Yes, too bad these days they don't care anymore either.

I wouldnt judge Blizzards naming policy enforcement from alpha or beta really. If it is still crappy when you actually pay for it you can still email them!
