| WoW Gamespy article GameSpy article on WoW Guess this is kind of old (a week or so), but haven't seen it up here yet. Sounds like the quest system is very similar to Neverwinter Nights, which had a very good, non-boring/repetitive quest system. Obviously it's a single-player game, but an MMO could use aspects of their system to make a great quest paradigm. Anyway, interesting set of articles. edit: Ok, not old. Thought "january04" was month/day =P Last edited by xilsharn : 01-14-2004 at 06:09 AM. |

+24 Internets | Being an avid racing game fan, I'd be stoked to find a decent 'mini-game' in WoW that could be a source of income for me, sources of income ala tradeskills or farming high money / easy to kill mobs(Rathe mtn giants and such) just isn't very exciting, and if it's not exciting or fun, I generally won't do it. I can't imagine many people using the race track if it didn't provide awards, as it probably won't be as good as say, Need For Speed Underground or whatever racing game is out there, from a purely gameplay standpoint. KotoR incorporates a racing game, and while plain, it added a little to the fun of the game. |

+2 Internets | That article just.. it makes me happy in my special place, to say the least. With a quest system like that, Worlds of Warcraft is on the road to complete victory. I love questing. Always have. I try and do quests in EQ even though they're mostly just a waste of time. The very idea of a game being quest-centric... Not required, but centric.. Very wuwu~ I can't wait for beta.. Just have to pray I get in. Times like these I wish I wasn't an atheist so I could have a miracle ![]() |

+24 Internets | Athiests get miracles too, just usually they're bad ones that lead them to Christ! See: Saul, who got blinded by God for three days, then turned into Paul, and became a leader in early Christian church! Basically, if you don't get into WoW beta, it's God punishing you. |

+24 Internets | There should be a definate separation of casual gamers and hardcore gamers, at some point, but the casual gamers shouldn't be left with a 'rotten end' of a stick, only a short stick that doesn't include the top stuff. One thing to keep in mind, the end game entertains nearly EVERYONE on a server, because even the most casual gamers will still learn and be fascinated by the end game. Keeping is mystical and only available to those have the numbers, time and discipline is what I want. |

| i have no problem with either type or both-provided they do it correctly remember as the game progresses and ages, what WAS hard core content becomes Casual Content. and i LOVE the "quest-centric" style they have devised and the fact that if you are not on the quest you will never see a quest item that that spawn drops..and the fact that if you need spawn xxx's head/whatever all people on the quest in your group will get it at the same time. jerle, check your messageboard inbox. |

"Well, pretty much we're only going to be friendly to the power gamer who won't rest until they've got the best and most powerful everything." or maybe "Well, really we're only going to be friendly to the casual gamer, who logs in every day or two for two to five hours." Singling out that quote and suggesting that it might be something bad is ridiculous.

As long as character power progresses significantly with each expansion, uber content of vanilla WoW will be consumed by your family / casual guilds. The question is, will high level grouping be neccesary for full character completion(ala AA points), and if so, will the hardest way to exp be more rewarding than easy blue kills, and will people who have skill be able to dignify themselves very easily from those that don't?
