Looting and having a "Gem of Yet to Come" from a Sarnak Gem Oracle in your inventory from the Sarnak fort in Loio would "auto-pull" Sarnaks to the person who had the gem.

No there was a loot message in Kunark, I can remember playing before Velious was released and having loot messages.

ya, they added in the -- soandso has looted a (item) -- later on though, because people were doing /emote loots a (item) as a joke I guess. But I could see people doing a bunch of random /emote loots a (item) and then looting the actual item from said corpse. "haha just kidding guys!!" while he runs off with the new sebilizian beserker cloak.

There would be 'feet' items that you wore to avoid sliding in SoV.

Wasn't there a public or raid 'SoandSo loots an item.' message put in semi-recently?

I can't remmeber back in vanilla if there was a loot item message in group, it was so long ago.

someone posted this in the begining, but you could starve to death and lose your body if you fell off the boat. Before kunark, once your food/water was gone, your sta would drain away, and then you would start taking damage until you died. And if you didnt get a loc dying in oot, your screwed.
Also long time ago (beta maybe?) you did get extra stats for a full set of armor like crafted or blackened iron. but that got removed really early on.
One great one was that everyone thought stats were everything and ac was crap. So at the start of kunark you had wars full of stat jewelry and like 500 ac heh.
That you could spawn mayong by giving booth vampire fangs to the gypsie princess in the throne room.
heh, the plank for the bfg quest drops in the ocean in IC now

The best rumor that I had ever heard came right out of the first Everquest Strategy Guide, so i'm guessing this was late 1999 or early 2000...

The strategy guide said something to the effect of "gnome warriors being one of the best choices for warriors because they were the shortest and therefore hardest to hit."

When our guild won our server's ToT and ToT2 and got those crappy rings, I was going to destroy mine, until I heard from a genius GM "What? Don't destroy those, they will be upgraded as the game grows"

Today's rumors about what Everquest "used to" be like have gotten out of hand too. Shit like "Yeah, in beta the necro pets were crazy powerful I saw one solo half of Antonica while the owner was afk". Granted necro pets were the own, more powerful than alot of warriors, but they weren't nearly as powerful as the rumors.

Another rumor that travels from server to server, or least it did a few years back. "Did you know Furor left FoH? He is playing a -insert_class_here on our server now, but he doesn't want anyone to know"

you know that strategy guide also says humans have an exp bonus (but it does talk about kunark and velious in the little stories, this is before anyone knew about kunark)
