Lineage doesn't count as the biggest MMOG.. But this does.(700k simultaneous conn)

http://www.wemade.com/english/history/main01.html

Lineage doesn't really count in terms of accounts since it's all cybercafe based(been rehashed repeatedly). But this game is a direct account based game.. They hit 700k simultaneous users over a year ago. I heard of this for the first time today.. Fucking Chinese. jesus :P

Hardly anyone understands why Matrix3 was one of the highest grossing movie openings ever.

Reason is, they opened across the world the same day.

Much the same is happening in mmorpgs.

I love FFXI, but was surprised to find last week there are over 500k subscribers. Why? Same reason Mir2 has 700k, and Matrix3 will go down as one of the most successful movies ever.

Doesn't mean much outside the numbers, there are 1,200,000,000 people in China alone. And Mir2 has subscribers from Europe to Australia.

If EQ had opened world wide they would've hit 1 million easy. As it is combined with their new "Eastern" servers they still retain over 400k, 4+ years later.

yup, ffxi lost more people because of the japs having such a huge head start than anything I think, its just not fun to be so far behind people and then on top of that be forced to play with them when you cant even understand them.

i got into a few betas for those asian shitty 2d mmogs. why the hell do ppl play that stuff? much less paying for it. I can see how if this was around 1995, but it's not...at least i don't think, i suck at math.

i've yet to understand most asian gamers. i'm disgusted by quite a few american gamers too, though. maybe it's me and not them? ... nah.

There was a free month offered of Legend of Mir a year or 2 ago. It's kind of a like a dumbed-down Diablo I. No way I would pay for it...

Star Wars might have if the ticket prices were adjusted to match 1998/Titanic era prices. (http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/records/)

Gone with the wind (1939)

Quote:
If the number of total admissions are calculated, this is the most popular movie of all time in the US. While having the advantage of being released several times in theaters, the shocking thing is that there were half as many Americans alive when it was released, compared with Titanic, Star Wars, and Jaws

Didn't Titanic's set cost approximately $270M to build?

1/3 of their profits....BURNT TO A CRISP.

Gone with the Wind always amazed me, at least it's money making ability. Even if you looked at raw $$$$$$$$$ without adjustment...when you realize movie tickets cost like 5-10 cents, thats pretty damn amazing.

It was also a controversal movie, because they said "I dont give a damn" in it! THE HORROR!!!!

Heh, I'm damn glad I got on a year late. There has been a year of testing and patchs (although it didn't need it anything like EQ did and still does), there are high level people to help you with quests (and they do) there are high level crafters to make useful items, there are people that have done the high level quests for items and spells so you have the option of simply buying instead of spending the time to do it yourself, and when you go auction some stuff there are people with money to actually buy it.

You're not "behind" anyone, the game isn't a race to the level cap in order to show you have the biggest MMORPG dick (and lack of a real life.)
