Old time Ultima Online

Yea, I was reading a thread a few lines down and the discussion turned to old school Ultima Online PVP.

First, I was wondering who you played as Furor as we both played the same server (SONOMA). I was in MO (Mount Olympus) and then DOM. Do you remember Oasis and their tournies? :P

A few requests for this thread:

1) Does anyone have any good screenshots or stories from old time UO PKing?

2) Does anyone have any ideas for PVP of the future?

And thirdly, anything else anyone has on their minds ;P

I just read a story about "Johan the Pirate" a PK that would hunt down other ships... it was hilarious and it made me want to play again.

Well I don't know crap about Sonoma (I played Atlantic) but I can tell you now if you want to play again, fuck OSI and just play an emulator server. I was surprised to find that the popular emulator servers are pretty much just as stable as the official ones, and they don't have dumb shit that old-schoolers hate (i.e. anything that got patched into pvp post 1999!)

I recently started playing on Metropolis ( http://www.metropolisshard.com/ ), which is one of the bigger emu servers with around 400 players at any given time. There's no Trammel so it's a decent amount of players. It's only been around a little over a month so there's still plenty of room for houses and shit, and the pvp system is as it was in 1999 (can heal while poisoned, mind blast isn't a freaking insta-kill on dexers, no overpowered lumberjacking/inscription/nox-mage BS, etc.). It's kind of fun to shoot the shit on UO again after almost 5 years of EQ.

Btw if you lost your CD or have never played UO you can download the client completely free here: http://gigex.com/pc/title/downloads/...8&source=00001 (don't put in your email address for the free account offer unless you're gonna play a non-emulator server). If you're gonna play an emu server, patch up and get UOGateway ( http://uogateway.com/uogateway.html ) to start playing.

I have a question: If you saw that there was a thread already discussing old school UO, why make another?

If I remember correctly, that thread wasn't supposed to be about UO, it got derailed for a few pages with people discussing UO PvP, then went back to the actual topic of the thread.

This one guy I knew told me some funny ass UO stories. He was like a mechanic or machinist or something, he could set traps with his ability. So he'd stuff a chest full of worthless heavy deer hides and set a trap on it. He'd than go to the Britain bank, which I guess is like the Bazaar of UO, and he'd pretend that he accidently misclicked while banking and dropped his box on the ground. People would try to open it and it would blow up in their faces, and he'd just keep resetting the trap. He'd than push it out of the bank into the town square and he'd be like "Oops, Someone help me, I dropped my box," and people would be swarming all over it getting killed. I really liked it, because it was their greed that killed them.

I played on Sonoma. I was in a guild called Circle of Power (we wore funky light green robes and were all about the PvP against the Koreans). My character's name was Blitz.. I'll probably see you around on that link you posted... make sure you run

The thread that inspired this was about an "exploit" on Discord server... Thanks for trolling though.

Yep, it was fun. I'm at my parents over Christmas so I haven't played since the wipe, but I'll be back on IPY soon. It's a lot more fun than most MMOGs out there.

Here are some old school Sonoma pics.

First 2 are shots of when we used to fight this guild OCT. This is infront of covetous and there had to be a good 20+ people there going ballastic on one another.

Pre pre-cast nerf of course.
