And a reminder that the premiere airs this Thursday the 17th.

I saw I think the first episode of S1 and it was okay in a "meh, it's better than Law & Order" kind of way. Does it get better? Note, I'm asking as someone who thinks Lost is about the dumbest shit on TV, but I loved the X-Files.

I'm half tempted to snag the DVDs and give it a shot, I just want to at least have an idea of what I'm getting into.

I thought it started off pretty weak, but towards the end of the season it all started falling in place and kickin ass IMO.

They dont leave nearly as much shit unexplained for nearly as long as Lost does.

I also despise Lost for that very reason and refuse to watch it until it's done and I can just marathon it.

Edit: LOL I was walkin by a skateboard shoe shop on the weekend and saw a pair with your avatar on them :P

Yeah, Iron Maiden is marketed pretty strongly these days as a classic rock thing. Like how you see AC/DC and Misfits shit on people who have no idea what the bands are about.

The first 10 eps of Fringe are pretty episodic, and lay out a bunch of seemingly random bizarre shit. And then the next 10 episodes will BLOW YOUR MIND. And Walter is hilarious the entire time. I was really concerned when I started watching that it would have a serious case of Lostitis, but it doesn't, at all. Even at the end of S1 it's about 75% explained, but with tons of future potential.

I'm excited for this show more than any other this season.

I need to go back and watch all of the episodes, I missed quite a few. Walter is such a brilliant character.

Waht is up with the symbols they show before commercial breaks?

symbols are explained in the sesion 1 thread, there is a link i am to lazy to find- I am sure google will yeald you results.

If i remeber correctly, each symbol is a letter- the letters spell out a name of a character whom is the primary focus of that episode

The symbols spell out a single word, usually related to the episode (though the pilot's word is OBSERVER). They serve no real purpose and may not even be back this season: Fringe (and Dollhouse) have standard commercial time this season, and there are a limited number of relevant phrases you can make with 5 letters (or 6, depending on how many commercial breaks there are now).

As far as the first season goes: you can skip much of the first half of the season. The main problem (outside of the usual concept repetition most shows go through) is that the John Scott plotline just doesn't go anywhere. I'd personally watch:
The two hour pilot (just for setup, actual content is weak).
Episodes 4, 7, 8, 10, & 11.
Everything from episode 14 on (the Scott plotline ends in episode 13), though episode 16 is optional.

If you havnt gave it a chance yet I would say go for it, I never really felt the the first episode dragged but it does get much better. If you liked the x-files, Ive heard a lot of people say its much improved version of a show like that.

With that said, the season finally wasnt a let down like most shit lately

MUCH improved? I dunno about that. But, there's only been 1 season so we'll see.

However, I will predict now that this show won't make it past a 2nd season. If their stories start getting too complex with the alternate reality stuff, they will turn off most viewers (because they are too stupid to comprehend such things).
