| Sort of. You have to compare the budgets of the shows involved as well. Fringe may be doing better than whatever Kitchen show was on this time last year, but it also costs far more to make than a reality show. Who is producing matters as well. Heroes barely came back this year on NBC because NBC/Universal gets all the profits from DVD sales, any possible syndication, etc. Whereas Fringe is a Warner Bros production - Fox doesn't see any money from their DVD sales, etc., which makes it less profitable for them to keep around. All in all, it's a mess. Sci-fi as a whole could be in trouble next year - Heroes and Dollhouse are likely to be axed, Lost is over, V is in shambles even before it airs, and Fringe is borderline at this point. (Day One is probably already canceled too.) Enjoy the shows while you can. |

| Even before the pickup NBC was calling it an "event show" - code for one season, unless ratings shock us. Then, the new NBC head said that expensive "genre" shows like Day One aren't supportable anymore. I mean, this is television: if the ratings are great, it will be back. But no one involved expects them to be great. |

+19 Internets | Well, I'll be very disappointed in Fringe gets dropped after season 2. It did well last year, and it's less expensive this year what with the added commercials, so if it beats its last year viewership it should have a pretty good shot of sticking around. Having JJ Abrams behind it probably helps as well. He's got to have some influence thanks to Lost. |

| I just finished the entire S1 on DVD and tonight after work I'll watch s2 ep1+2 and I should be all caught up for tomorrows episode. Watching it on DVD was fantastic. You could pause it and go back and search for the observer. I ended up finding him in every epidsode. The scifi stuff is great. BTW, last season I tried the show and really couldn't get into it....I guess I was expecting more of an X-files, and i needed to be more open minded. But when I watched it again on the DVD's I gave it more of a chance and stuck with it longer and by like episode 5 I was hooked. It really is a great scifi show. The cliffhangers at the end of season 1 were fantastic too. And now it makes me sad now to see that you guys are worrying that this show might get cancelled after I just started liking it. Why can't they put it after House on Mondays? Thursday night is the hardest night on TV to compete with. EDIT: I just wanted to add that the show takes place in Boston where I grew up and lived in for 26 years and I get a kick out of how they sometimes mess up the locations in Boston. Like they said Boston College in the huge block letters and it was really Boston University. Or the John Hancock building is always the federal building in the show, which it is not, it is all businesses in that building. But I do love seeing the show set in Boston and seeing all of the exterior shots.

| S2 E1: The shapeshifting soldier is all kinds of awesome....reminds me of the bounty hunter from The X-files which is fine with me because that character was badass. I love how he has to use the device to change and how he can jump out of windows at crazy heights like a cat and take bullets like they are nothing. And on top of that he has a Men in Black type of moment with that typewriter. FANTASTIC. This show keeps getting better. The only disappointment I had with the premier was that Olyvia forgot what had happened to her in the s1 finale. Her reappearence was sweet though. I think the glyph was: Tower (have to watch again to make sure).

| S2 E2: Anyone ever see the X-files episode called Home? I swear the house in Fringe in Penn that they went was the exact same house in Home. They were both in Penn too. And were both isolated and had a huge field next to them and the houses looked exactly alike. Then when that muddy shovel shot comes out of nowhere I instantly thought of those brothers burying that mutant baby. BTW the glyph spelled MIRROR but I missed the observer I have to watch again to find him. ALSO: Lost Reference in the episode: Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

| A bunch of people were arguing about whether or not it was the same house as "Home" over on TWOP. The X-Files house looks crappier, but maybe it's been reno'd? The show is now filmed in Vancouver, just like X-Files, so the extreme similarities will probably continue. |

| Just look at the left side of the second floor - one sticks out a good 10 feet and the other doesn't. They are different buildings. But yeah, as mek said, they moved production from New York to Vancouver, X-Files' old stomping grounds, so expect to see a lot of similar architecture. |

| I'll be pissed if the show is cancelled, it's great so far and is really my only sci-fi fix at the moment. Hopefully it manages to continue.. pretty much feel the same way as everybody else, enjoying the new season so far, looking forward to more Nimoy. I'm bad at spotting the observer, I try to for the first 10 minutes and then i forget about it and I get sucked into the episode every time, lol. | What sucks is that there has been nothing on Tuesday or Wednesday worth watching for me. It's like 90% of the shows I watch are on Thursday. I download everything so it's not like I have to pick and choose. But the average TV viewer does, which sucks. I can totally see why Fringe would get hammered. |
