Exactly. They would expect the markings to be in the nurse's corpse, they have no reason to suspect Franclone.

The trouble with this finale is that we have set ourselves up for another 10 episodes of episodic content while they struggle with Senate criticism and the shenanigans of the Franclone while Torv tries to remember the shit she forgot. Which is about how I expect this season to play out.

And then Nimoy will finally show up around episode 15 and the rest of the season will be awesome.

Was I the only one that caught the X-Files on the TV when the shapeshifter was doing his first change at the beginning of the episode? Or was I hallucinating? And how they mentioned the "X and Fringe divisions" when Broyle's was in front of the senate hearing.

You weren't hallucinating on either of those.

Are we going to see Chris Carter writing episodes for Fringe?

Almost caught up with season 1, 4 episodes to go.

Really enjoying this show. Wish I'd given it a chance last year when it first came on.

Nice touch from the finale last season which explains quite a bit of this episode. In NY, when Olivia was driving to the restaurant where Bell isn't, a car pulls out in front of her and she swerves to miss it... and the camera does a little shake.

It's pretty clear now that what happened is that car hit her, but she skipped universes at that exact point... and then spent an hour in bizarro-NY. And then returned at the exact point she left... flying through a windshield an hour late.

Therefore the events of this episode are on the exact same day as the finale was.

Err, she sat in the restaurant for hours, then through the elevator "transition", then whatever chat with Bell. So your plan only works if B-dimensioners can both travel through dimensions and space and time travel. (I.e. she swaps dimensions into an identical car in the other dimension at the time of the crash, doesn't notice the towers and whatever else is different on the ride to the restaurant, kills four hours in that dimension's restaurant, then time travels backwards five hours in the elevator ride AND teleports from the restaurant to the twin towers.)

It's possible, but to me it more suggests that the B-agent was trying to take her out in the A-reality even before her meeting with Bell.

The car crash was sitting around for hours before she shot through the windshield. (Pacey and Walter had time to get from Boston to the NYC car crash, and THEN she popped out.)

And Olivia has to be capable of skipping in both space and time, this was established in the finale, as she teleported from an elevator in a building that existed in our reality, into an elevator in the WTC. There is no elevator in the WTC in our reality, obviously - that original elevator was somewhere else entirely. But the time gap lines up perfectly.

So zipping back into the carseat from where she started her trip, is not a big stretch of the imagination. Plus the shapeshifter was clearly trying to prevent the meeting from occurring - and the car matches from ep 20. Anyway, I'm sure this season will explore how universe-skipping works in further detail.

Great Episode

Peter - Hughes might have killed his Wife and Child 17 years ago

Walter - Finally some good news!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Wouldnt have been a lot easier and faster for the guy to hang himself instead of making that thing to hang himself??

IMO this whole episode was a tribute to the X-Files episode Home. Which is okay, but I would have rather watched that.

Yeah, this episode was exceedingly X-Filesish. I suppose that is to be expected, when they keep all of the rest of the cast out of the picture and only have the male and female leads around.

It also seemed pretty cheaply made (episode one was as well). This is actually a good thing - given the assbeat scheduling they have this year, if the budget is less it has a much better chance of surviving into next year.

And I like that they admitted there's more than one other parallel dimension. I suspect, like the rest of you, that Walter's kidnapping Peter was the incident that "locked" the two timelines together.

I'm not sure how effective the Peter-death comments are. I mean, it is actually moving when (in the first episode) Peter says "He keeps checking on me in my sleep to see if I'm still breathing", but I'm not sure that anyone that didn't see the season one finale would draw the conclusion that he's B-Peter from those comments.
