But I agree with your second paragraph for the most part: E's never done anything to show he's an amazing manager, and short of Sloan whispering in her Godfather's ear, I have no idea why Murray would be interested in someone with E's background (virtually zero, no education that I'm aware of, and only one truly successful client who was apparently already big or on his way to it before E came out to Cali). Most of the first 5 seasons he was busy fucking up Vince's career, although most of the time because he was simply doing what Vince wanted him to. He had a couple lucky breaks here and there, but overall the choices he made for Vince's career nearly killed it.

Well putting all the blame on E isn't really fair. Most of those decisions Vince was pushing for just as much if not more (Medellin), and also it's not E's fault Vince and Billy fucked Medellin up.

No kidding. I feel that E never really was to blame for the fucked up shit that happened to Vince's career. E even thought Medellin sucked before they made it final.

E got one of his clients TV show into pre-production, when the kid was working in GAP or some shit. It wasn't his fault the kid couldn't act for shit.

E also saved Vince's career by chasing people down and making shit happen. He dealt with Ari well and managed Vince, someone with a clearly difficult personality, pretty successfully through good times and bad.

What did you expect him to fucking do? Find the next Brad Pitt and nurse him from his irish teet of wisdom? Nepotism is how huge numbers of these high end opportunities arise. I'm surprised you're all so shocked by it.

I think the idea is that he started the same way. And I guess has heard how hard E works for his people, even if he does fail some.

Vince himself when he fired E towards the end of season 5 said something about E looking out for Vince personally instead of Vince professionally, and that's the point I was getting at. As his manager it's his job to put his career on the right track, not to go along with his every whim about working on "authentic" shit that he "loves" to do, or whatever the fuck else he said when he turned down Aquaman to pursue Medellin. Ari tried to drill this in to E's head repeatedly throughout the whole Medellin arc.

You're absolutely right in that Vince made a lot of those decisions, and again that's kind of the point I'm getting at: a good manager would have done everything they could to convince their client they were making a huge mistake, which Vince did, by turning down the sequel and burning a pretty huge bridge with that studio.

But I don't think there's much point arguing about the logic of the show or it's characters, it's not meant to be taken too seriously.

I'd have to go back and watch again (which I'm not going to do) but I seem to remember E trying to convince Vince not to do Medellin at all since Billy was involved in it. Vince also got mad at E several times about E trying to convince him not to follow his dreams/desires. I don't exactly disagree with what you're saying but ultimately the decisions made are the client's to own, blaming the manager because the shit you did over their objections didn't work out is pretty fucked up.

Aaaah thanks it was driving me nuts because she is not yet in the imdb credits and could not figure where I saw her before. It was in Transiberian (I also saw Shooter though but managed for my sanity to forget everything about the movie).

Lots of Giants related stuff lately. The Turtle stuff last week (with Tom Brady) and now Plaxico and having the daughter of the former Giants owner as a character...weird.

They are from New York remember. I think Kate Mara is just a coincidence though.
