Question about the original Miami Vice

I've looked and I can't seem to find the answer, my mother asked me to find out and try as I may I've been unable to get an answer so I had the bright idea of drawing upon FOH's vast television knowledge to help me out.

I need to know the name (both character and actor) that played James "Sonny" Crockett's father in the original Miami Vice.

Please link your source too if you could. Thanks in advance, if I'm able to, I'll + the person who helps me out.

Mmmhmm. This is a test to see if you can get people to do something you could easily do yourself.

I know the answer, but I'm not giving it to you.

So I guess you failed to read the first sentence of my post, kudos to you sir.

I'm not an internet tuff guy like most people here so i don't have a sarcastic or witty reply so I'll continue to look like I have been since I made the post though my search is somewhat limited while I'm at work and hope someone else can lend a hand if they are able to.

Thanks anyways Ancient.

Short Bus? He played Billy Crockett, which was the son of Sonny and Caroline....how can the guy that played his son also play his father?

............right

So anyways I've been able to find that his father died in 1968 or somewhere around that time and that it was exactly 20 years before the episode called "Bad Timing" so unless his father was in a dream sequence or flash back I'm not sure he would have ever been in the show.

Wish I could get confirmation either way.

David Andrews played Jack Crockett, cousin to Sonny and family embarrassment.

Thanks for looking though Clerica.

His dad died in 1968 and is only ever mentioned once in the episode "Bad Timing" , Sonny reminisces about playing snooker with him.

I'm pretty good at finding useless shit out and as best as I can figure, you're Mom is misremembering about him ever making an appearance. If he did it would have been in a flashback and the aforementioned episode is the only time his father is ever mentioned.

I had said as much before, but if he was there in a flash back or a dream sequence then there WAS an appearance by someone to play that role as his father in it and thats what I was trying to figure out.

Yeah so he would have had to appear in that episode, since it's the only time he is ever mentioned on the show. So far as I can tell it's only a story and not actually a flashback though, and looking up that particular episode lists no actor appearing as his Father, though if it was a non speaking role it may not be listed.
