[NBC] Kings - It's better than a goddamn blow job

Anyone heard anything about this? It has Ian McShane which pretty much guarantees I will give it a shot. It's a modern version of David and Goliath from what I'm reading.

They've been hyping the bejeezus out of it, but I'm a little amped up. I'll definitely watch the premiere.

Ian McShane gives me hope for it, too bad it's network and there will be no "cocksucker" soliloquies.

When the networks announced their schedules for 08/09, this was the new show I was most interested in.

Too bad NBC (who are the only ones that have seen all the episodes) have no confidence in it - rather than taking over from ER in March, NBC bought extra episodes of ER, even though they also had to buy another series (Southland) from the same producer to make it happen. You don't spend $20 million on new midseason programming to replace a show if you think its going to be a hit.

Still, my DVR is set and I'm hopeful.

I caught this blurb last night, it sounds pretty cool.

Quote:
Bromstad also indicated she sees NBC’s continuity-heavy sci-fi project “Day One,” about apartment dwellers who survive a mysterious worldwide cataclysm, as likely to fill the “Heroes’” Monday timeslot, presumably during “Heroes’” fourth-season hiatus.

"‘Day One’ is a big event and we're looking at that to come into the 'Heroes' spot," Bromstad told the Reporter. "It's right now being looked at as a 13-episode run -- something people could commit to and we could make a big splash with."
I couldn't find much else on the show other than those details rephrased a bunch of times. As long as it makes more sense than heroes, it should be watchable.

I really liked it, I don't unfortunately see it catching on big... like all the good shows these days

I thought it was pretty good, has a few problems. It could have 1 really good season.

Maybe I've got BSG on the brain with the series ending, but part of me was hoping he was going to play All Along the Watchtower when he sat at the piano.

I loved it - this is definitely on my must-see list for now. With BSG ending, I'm glad there's another epic series arising. It's been awhile since I've seen a premiere this intense and gripping. It's like Braveheart meets A Man for All Seasons meets Gossip Girl. Hopefully they already have an end-date in mind and can arc the story properly and not kill us with filler episode bullshit.

Liked it quite a bit, im a sucker for alternate timeline stuff, wish there was more to their website, some maps, a little more history outside of character bios and stuff.

That was the best two hours of television I have ever seen from a basic cable television network.

I look forward to being disappointed by whatever will ruin it for me.

So sad, but true.

Anyway, I still haven't checked it out. Downloaded it last night. Very happy to hear the impressions on this thread though!
