| It seems interesting to me that every detail in this show is entirely based on the unchallenged, unwavering belief that an interventionist god exists. Every character is possessed with absolutely no doubt. No exceptions. It's a little... annoying.

| I read somewhere that they are going to switch directors, replacing Francis Lawrence, known among other things from directing I Am Legend and Constantine, with some other guy. Considering that the high production quality and directing that Kings has enjoyed up till now has been one of the main things many of us love about it, do you guys think they will be able to keep up the good work so to say? Honestly, I'm not that sure about Francis Lawrence's credentials, but aside from the other aspects, like how good the screenplay was etc, I though the way both I Am Legend and Constantine were done was pretty good. Now, whether anyone will later challenge the king on atheist grounds is a different matter. | |

| I can see that much like most western politicians today, they have to put up a facade of absolute belief in 'god' so that the common people will find some common ground with the politicians. I don't know how well a major candidate would do in the USA if he was atheist or stated he didn't believe in god. Probably not too well I'd imagine.

+3 Internets | No faith is the same if not worse than too much faith when it comes to US politics. Would just be more fodder for 3rd party advertisements to tee off on. At least when you have faith it can be vague enough that more people sympathize/relate to the candidate so it doesn't become an obstacle to attaining office. The show does the same thing I think... we haven't labeled anyone in the show any subset of some religion I don't think, have we? |

+25 Internets | I hate David. I hate his family. Hate his stupid mother and brother. I just fucking hate them and I'm afraid it's ruining the show for me. Knowing that this whole thing is predetermined to revolve around him pisses me off. He's worse than Peter in Heroes. Other than that it was a great episode. |

| The handover isn't for another few months yet, technically he is still his subject. The meeting in the church at the end opens up a lot of plot possibilities. David definitely has "Ted syndrome" though I watch despite him, not because of him.

2) he can buy his own place in Shiloh to stay a citizen himself. couple misc thoughts - the map they showed looked like the pacific NW, and i've been barely avoiding checking the King David wikipedia page because i don't want the story spoiled. if it's following closely so far, do we want to limit people's "theories" if they're just based off the biblical story in this thread? | |
