Perhaps if it gets enough popularity we'll see another game as well, I was disappointed at how badly the game did in both Japan and the United States despite being a glorious strategy RPG.
One of the greatest games never played.

I stopped watching Soul Eater around episode 31 because it started to get boring but holy fuck it keeps getting better!

I stopped a lot earlier. I don't remember it ever being not boring.

Somewhat OT but do any of you folks subscribe to any print magazines that cover Anime/Manga in a well-written and informative fashion? I mostly find out about new series I want to watch through threads like this one here and elsewhere but it would really be awesome to have a monthly magazine to help keep me up to date on stuff.

I can use Google and pull up several related magazines but without any word of mouth recommendations I'm not sending anyone money. That's why I started here first.

And back on topic, I too loved Valkyria Chronicles and am looking forward to the anime. I hope it's good and I hope it increases the visibility and popularity of that game. Cant wait to watch it!

I've never found anything any good, although I haven't looked very hard. Generally, the anime that sells magazines stateside are pretty bad (Bleach, Naruto, maybe FMA) On an occasion there is a decent review on the main page of anime-source (which exposed me to Kemonozume). They also have yearly "best anime of 200x" and you can check it out and see if you missed anything popular. Sometimes a little known gem will sneak into the top 50 or so, but the top 10 is usually pretty bland.

During the beginning of a new season Random Curiosity will have write ups on a lot of shows but you could invest the 30 minutes and watch them yourself. Deeper into a season he'll only be blogging 4 or 5 shows on that site (well two bloggers, I think). They throw down some decent episode reviews and if you find you share common tastes with one or both of them than you will have a good source of recommendation for a long time. I don't, really, so I usually filter what I'll try out from one of the season preview type posts and judge them after a few episodes.

Forums are where it is at. Real time reviews written by people you sort of know. I've run into a few hefty recommendations on these boards alone (TTGL, Seto no Hanayome), but there are only a handful of people who have opinions I would respect. While anime discussion is limited here, it is better than a lot of anime centered forums because the discussion focuses too much on cash cow bullshit.

and animenewnetwork for news. pretty decent stuff on there usually.

I thought New Type was a pretty good Anime mag. Of course its gone now and some other crap thing took its place. Other than that I've not seen anything decent around.

T-Rex is right on though. Forums are where its at for this sort of thing. KAA forums used to be a pretty decent place for getting reviews of new stuff, but things have died off in these last couple of seasons.

I am looking forward to some more FMA, I think that will possibly be the top anime I follow this season(although I actually watch everyone of them!). About Soul Eater, It was indeed boring the first umm 7ish episodes? However as of now to me its one of the best running.

I'm not any sort of fan of either one, but I am so easily drawn towards Detective Conan vs. Lupin III. It just has to be entertaining.

Soul Eater anime has been shit since it started original episodes, it's nothing like the manga anymore.

Nothing like this really exists in the states. Blogs and forums are pretty huge for the english speaking anime crowd to get info, as well as a few other key sites, I'll list a few:

Anime news/show and manga info/seiyus/studio info:

Anime News Network

Show rating/info:

myanimelist.net (best)
anidb.net

Forums:

AnimeSuki Forum - Powered by vBulletin is probably the most popular with the least tards

Where to get anime/manga:

Tokyo Toshokan :: #tokyotosho @ irc.rizon.net :: Torrent Listing (for anime, most up to date tracker site, can also search for hentai/music/etc)

Baka-Updates Manga - Latest Release Information (for manga)

Blogs I visit every day:

Random Curiosity (usually blogs the most popular shows, Gundam, Code Geass, etc) Random Curiosity

THAT Animeblog

Subculture Anime Blog

Kurogane’s Anime Blog

j1m0ne’s blog (seiyuu blog)

見ないで! ひとり言

Tenka Seiha

serious fucking business (blog for fansubbing group [gg]'s editor, shes funny and cynical)

Yeah I watch a ton of anime, every genre except yaoi, you can trust me.

Oh boy, I love series about high school life, looks like there's a lot this season.

Just finishing up Toradora now.

Was the After Story as good as the original? I liked Clannad, but I never got into the After Story, I was satisfied with how everything was tied up, I didn't really want to see anymore.

Programming like this is why Japan wins at science.

If I had a Gothic Lolita teaching me reducing fractions I'd still probably be able to do it without having to take a moment to think. (Leave me alone, who the fuck still works with fractions instead of decimals!)

You pretty much have to watch After Story, you haven't finished Clannad without it. It stands a step above the first part of it as well.
