Didn't get the chance to post yesterday, but SciFi played the entire '80s mini series and V The Final Battle all day on Sunday. Talked to my dad on the phone today and he said they were showing it again today. Was good to see the old one again, plus my wife was too young to see it in the '80s, so she got to witness it for the first time.

Hopefully this new version is good, and they stick with it.

SyFy is showing the V series again, and I can't believe how cheesy this show is coming off. When I was a kid, I loved the show, but its definitely showing its age.

Special effects are, you know, from the early 80's. Inconsistent matte paintings being some of the worst of it.

However, the story is still pretty good. I bought the series on DVD a several years ago and have watched them a few times through. I still enjoyed them 20 years later.

I wonder if the new series will use the same Swastika-like logo?

It was awesome to see again. '80s hair is a lot scarier than an invasion of reptilian aliens. The holocaust references were hilarious, and it's good to know that rich people and virgins are the most likely to betray the human race to any new otherworldly overlords.

The old V series is still awesome imo, I have both the miniseries and The Final battle on DVD (V the tv series was crappy though). Yea the special effects are not that great and it looks very dated but the story is still great. Aliens who look just like us come here promising that they are here for good and will cure our diseases and give us their great technologies but they are not what they seem to be. They are only disguised as humans and are here to rape our planet of food (humans) and water. Some drink the cool aid and some fight back. There were awesome WTF moments too like when we see a visitor swallow a mouse or when Donovan rips off a visitors skin to reveal that they are reptiles. The Alien ships and weapons looked great too. Overall great stuff. It is much better than all of the modern crap which had high tech special effects like Independence Day. That is the problem now a days there is too much focus on the effects and not enough on the story. Anyways, I hope that the new V has a solid story and is not just focusing on the effects. I am expecting a lot because I love the original V...the trailer that I keep seeing on ABC has me worried but I am going to give it a chance and be open minded.

Looking forward to the show tonight. I don't have high hopes, but I loved the old mini-series. I have both the original and The Final Battle on DVD. I watch it all about once a year. Love it.

Im also looking forward to the show tonight. I just hope the show is fun and entertaining. And considering how much other bad junk is out there atm, it won't have to be all the good to do well. If nothing else I suspect we'll get a couple of seasons out of it before us humans figure out a way to kill them all off...
