fuck you that shit looks awesome! I remember watching V as a kid and just being scared as fuck of a snake eating me, I can't wait for my kids to get the same level of bed wetting nightmares.

the priest is the guy from 4400, thats pretty cool. Anyone know how many episodes the series is going to be?

Looks like its worth giving a shot. At least they kept the lizard in a human suit aspect of it.

Beyond the fact that the tv screen on the bottom of the ships is fucking stupid, it looks like the are really moving away from the whole theme of the original mini-series, which is really disappointing. Or maybe they just played up the "savior" angle too much. Guess we'll see.

We're eager to embrace their generous offers of help, but while tracking a terrorist cell, Homeland Security agent Erica Evans stumbles upon something far more sinister. Erica discovers that the aliens have plans to infiltrate our governments and businesses, planting seeds for their plot to control mankind. Convincing anyone of the truth will be impossible because the Visitors have two powerful weapons. First, they've given the people faith with their reassuring presence and gifts. Second, they've rallied our youth. Thousands of teens, including Erica's son, have been recruited as 'Peace Ambassadors' but they're actually serving as unwitting spies. When Erica gets thrust into the resistance movement, she'll have to balance her covert activities with her job and her role as a mother, fighting to protect her son Tyler - even as he joins forces with the enemy.

From executive producer Scott Peters, Emmy-nominated creator of The 4400, comes a bold re-imagining of the sci-fi classic. Let the invasion begin.

Have to say it's looking pretty iffy, but I'm right there with you. I even recently picked up the (spectacularly shitty) season of V that ran. Saw it for $8 at Rasputin's and just couldn't resist

ABC breaks up launch plan for new sci-fi series 'V'

It looks like it won't be quite as smooth a liftoff for the alien invasion drama series "V" as initially planned.

ABC has confirmed that it has rejiggered the launch plan for the new fall drama, which is set to premiere Nov. 3. The network has decided to air just the first four installments of the Warner Bros. Television-produced series — and then place "V" on hiatus until after the Winter Olympics.

The decision is said to be based on ABC's efforts to promote the series as an "event." But less optimistic minds might recall that the network had previously shut down production on "V" for two weeks in order to undergo some creative overhaul. That hiatus has now been extended for an additional four weeks.

An ABC spokeswoman insisted that it was always ABC's intention to broadcast "V," which has a 13-episode order, in "pod form," though this decision comes as a bit of a surprise, given the positive buzz surrounding the series, a reimagining of the classic 1980s cult sci-fi series.

"V" stars Elizabeth Mitchell, Scott Wolf, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Morena Baccarin, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort and Lourdes Benedicto.

As the summary suggested, ABC already stopped production once, AND they only wanted to buy 6 episodes to start with (i.e. they thought it had a high possibility of suckitude).

Not to mention the scheduling is extremely suggestive: just like Bionic Woman and Knight Rider, they thought the show would get major nostalgia viewers (which they scheduled for November sweeps) before it collapsed (like Bionic Woman and Knight Rider).

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if we don't see episodes 5 through 13 until Summer.. or only on DVD.

And companies wonder why people don't want to try new shows.

It's actually worse than you heard: not only are they not airing episodes 5+ until after Feb sweeps, they aren't even making them until after the first four episodes have aired and they see the ratings on them.

If ABC hadn't been advertising this show as airing in November for weeks, I'm not sure this ever would have seen the light of day.

What's weird is the pilot has been out for critics for months.. and the reviews are passable. Just how bad are episodes 2/3?

The show has consistently been among the most anticipated new shows this season and the pilot has received reviews that are even more than passable. Im having a hard time believing the subsequent scripts are that much worse....

There is probably more to it than that; there's some uncertainty with NBC's ownership* atm and they probably wanted to cut some big expenses that won't pay off until March, if ever.

*Something like Vivendi owns 20% of NBC, and coming up soon is the date where they can buy the whole company... or sell off their portion. Most recent rumors indicate Comcast will end up owning 51%, with GE having 49%, when all is said and done.
