Yeah, I'll own up to it. I never watched the old series, but I loved the OC, and this shows brings that vibe. I haven't watched the CW since they canceled Veronica Mars, but this is worth coming back for.

Any bets on when we find out that the English teacher is the principal's long-lost son?

More interesting would be if Ty the rich kid dating Annie was the long lost son. The english teacher doesn't seem young enough to fit as the long lost son.

I watched the original series and enjoyed OC as well so giving this one a couple episodes.

I thought it was alright, a little high on cheese but mostly okay. They sure tried to pack a lot of drama and stories into a short time!

The inevitable cameos or even possible full time gigs for past cast members has me excited. Really, what exactly is Ian Ziering, Jason Priestly, Luke Perry, Tiffany Amber Thiessen, Kathleen Robertson, etc (sorry Ms. Spelling, you are not invited) doing nowadays? Also, I think it's time for Heather Locklear to get another gig. Mmmm Heather Locklear.

Yeah really, expect Season1 to be a guest star orgy especially if the ratings are so-so. We already know Zuckerman's daughter, niece or whatever is around (she's the presenter of the high school news near the beginning of the episode).

Personally I think the new cast has a lot less charisma than my current guilty pleasure, Gossip Girl. The old members of the cast are still fantastic though, it's crazy how good Spelling was at casting the right personas.

Yeah, it seems very cheap, a pale imitation of the recent similar shows such as the OC and gossip girl. Hated the blunt exposition but I guess it can be forgiven being the pilot.

I doubt he'll come on. Maybe for a cameo, definitely not as a cast member. He's got plenty of shit on the go, he writes and directs stuff as well as continues to act. He's kind of returned to his Canadian roots in a lot of ways (recent American citizenship notwithstanding!). He's definitely not a stereotypical press hound Hollywood star. Kind of following in the steps of Paul Neuman actually, IndyCar team and all.

I think there's some sort of Everest movie/series on CBC right now he's in. Awesome, it even has Shatner!
