+200 Internets | Meh. This first episode didn't blow me away. Other than getting a hard on for Chloe, I didn't connect with any of the characters. I'll still watch every week. It's a scifi show. Naming Sam's ship "Hammond" was a nice touch. Edit: I also don't see much potential for cool pew pew.

| A Bearded Gnome | I liked what I saw and it looks like it's going to be a good series. This will be my first Stargate series I'm going to watch. I may Netflix the other two series and watch them too. Rush gets all the nerdrage it seems and also find video game boy some new clothes too. He was still wearing that red shirt at the end.

| A good premiere for syfy, so long as you don't compare it to shows that came to syfy from other networks, a.k.a. BSG and SG1. One thing though... I hate all of the SG military personnel so bad it hurts, outside of the nurse. There wasn't a solid acting performance between them. Especially the young one who was initially put in charge. I'll keep watching it, and I imagine it will get good ratings compared to other shows on that network.

| Definitely watchable. Didn't exactly blow me away either, but considering that shows tend to start out worse than they get, it has potential. Nothing really blows me away anymore anyway. Sure beats the pants off shit like Sanctuary. Nice to see the "kids + old man in space" thing was overblown at least. If I had one real complaint it's that the characters sort of seem "generic." I don't see a character to get attached to like an O'Neill or a Rodney. Of course the show is one episode in so that could change. I'm just waiting for them to run into some aliens on the first planet they step foot on and find one who wants to join them for reasons that make no sense. It's tradition! Spoiler Alert, click show to read: |

| The Lt. is implausibly empathetic. He didn't blow his shit, and based on what experience? Otherwise it was solid. I hope mathboy grows out of being a gigantic pussy and angerdude walks off a cliff. |

| Would give it a C. Really didn't care for any of characters so far. Was sorta wanting geekboy to be scifi knowledgeable. Might have been corny but he should have brought up Wormhole X-Treme. ![]() |

+200 Internets | Seems like many comments I see about SGU on Twitter and elsewhere say the same thing: They didn't care about the characters. That's a bad sign. Also, this episode is available for free in HD on iTunes today.

+3 Internets | I liked it. It had some tension to it and a more serious feel than you usual see from the save the world with a machine gun shows. However, I'm under no illusion that I will make it through the season once they get away from the first problem of keeping themselves alive.

| meh, just saw premiere and it was ok. Kid feels a bit too much like Wesley Crusher, only vaguely interesting character is Robert Carlyle's and maybe the crazy-black-guy. The senator/daughter stuff really ate a lot of time that should have been edited down. Nothing fantastic so far, but I guess it wasn't terrible. You knew shit was crazy and awesome after seeing the BSG miniseries or the Lost premiere, didn't get anything close to that level of interest with this. I guess undecided for now, all the supporting actors look the same so hopefully they bring in some interesting aliens to mix things up. I saw briefly Lou Diamond Philips as a pilot but he wasn't part of the group that gated across, so dunno how they are gonna bring him and others in. Also not a huge fan of them having a comm channel back to Earth. Sadly I think we'll see a lot of Voyager plots rehashed here. |

+3 Internets | Didn't like crazy-black-guy... he seemed like an filler-soldier they liked, so they took 20 minutes, shot 3-4 extra scenes and now you have another underlying story. 'nobody looking at the right point in space where the floating camera is' aside, I thought it was OK, looking forward to how they make it not suck once they're 'safe' aboard the ship. |

+200 Internets | This episode wasn't very original. They did the exact same life support thing with the first episode of Atlantis.

| I found the whole thing to be rather silly to be honest. The ship looks like a Battlestar in a way that betrays their eagerness to be edgy. Its clear we are meant to hate the doctor and its also clear that the entire population of the ship at this point are a bunch of twits. Why the hell did no one use the ancient communication device after Rush came back with it? If this was an episode of Atlantis or SG1 Carter/McKay would have solved the whole problem in under 43 minutes, instead we seem to be stuck with the Voyager concept merged with a Sliders-esque countdown. They could have at least referenced "The Last Starfighter" with the whole Eli recruitment thing.

| A Bearded Gnome | The funny thing is I don't hate the Doctor. They failed in that regard pretty badly. Also Scifi has the worst amount of screen garbage of any cable channel I watch. Good god there is something popping up every 2 minutes it seems. It's annoying as fuck.
