Edit here is a list of the cast main characters GateWorld » The Characters of Stargate Universe The two women leads, Chloe and Tamara have not been cast yet. +3 Internets | Final cast members announced Lou Diamond Phillips in 'Stargate Universe Lou Diamond Phillips, Ming-Na, Elyse Levesque and Alaina Huffman round out the cast of Sci Fi Channel's new original series "SGU: Stargate Universe." The four join previously cast Robert Carlyle, Justin Louis, David Blue, Jamil Walker Smith and Brian J. Smith on the MGM TV-produced series, which began production last week in Vancouver. Edgier than its franchise predecessors, "SGU" follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians who must fend for themselves after they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base is attacked. The survivors, led by Dr. Nicholas Rush (Carlyle), emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. Phillips, repped by Global Artists and manager JB Roberts, will play Col. Telford, a lifelong military man and the chosen leader of the ill-fated expedition. ICM-repped Ming-Na will play Camile Wray, a human resources executive with the international oversight committee that governs the Stargate program. Levesque ("Smallville") will play Chloe Armstrong, the daughter and aide of a U.S. senator. She is repped by Kirk Talent Agencies. Huffman ("Smallville") will play MSgt. Tamara Johansen, a field medic assigned to treat the seriously wounded. She is repped by the Paul Kohner Agency and New Wave. |

+166 Internets | Which is a bad thing. It doens't give you any time to build up a good enemy. Thing I hated most (other then what's her face SINGING) about SG:A is that it took 5 seasons for us to actually start giving a shit about the Wraith. Every episode was, "OOH THEY'RE SCARY...AND VAMPIRES! AND ALL LOOK THE SAME!" The Genai were a better enemy simply because we knew who they were, they had a personality. They were hateable. They kept killing off any good villain an episode later though. I mean honestly, did you give a shit about any enemy in Voyager? By the time any of them got interesting they had passed through their space so every episode was basically either drama about the ship breaking down or drama about Janeway fucking up a way to get home because she has a pussy. Picard and Sisko would have been like, "Wait, you can transport across half the galaxy but your culture won't allow you to share? Mr. Worf, set phasers to kill this fool." So I predict the same for SG:U. Every episode will either be "SOMETHING BROKE FUCK!" while they get attacked, or they find a way home but manage to fuck it up by adhering to their principles. |

| Voyager was awful and this sounds worse. Then again, I didn't like any of the other Stargate shows either.

One of the biggest mistakes SG series made, was humanizing the bad guys. Go-uld stopped being alien gods, and starting being bungling idiots. But terrible writing left and right for the various series was the par. | |

| If they are fighting an overwhelmingly superior enemy whose empire stretches across the stars, yet they can only lose new ships/technology (repeatedly) through cliched resolutions within 1-2 episodes... something is wrong. There was no macro level, yet now they're trying to develop a show entirely on the macro level?
