Sounds like Kring is trying to blame the audience for his shitty writing.

Lost has ratings and is a quality show. why did he reference succesful shows to make his point that serialized programs dont work?

Some of the best shows on TV are serialized drama's. Shows like Lost and 24 are proof they work if the writing is good. Not to mention cable shows like Dexter, The Shield, etc etc. He is just making up excuses.

That article should read, "serial drama's do good but I can write those for shit."

The point he was making in the original interview flows a bit better than from that NYP article. There is pressure to aim at the "saps and dipshits" because there is more money there. He's saying that they fall in love more with characters and soap opera style drama than they do with coherent, meaningful plots. The original plan was to bring in new characters constantly to replace the old ones and have the main focus be the overarching origin storyline, but pressure from the business end of things (which came from pressure to target the "dipshits") dictated they keep all of the current characters around forever.

But yea basically he's just making excuses. However it all went down, its his lack of foresight which is at fault.

well then he sure picked the 2 worst fucking examples. both 24 and Lost have killed off many beloved characters.

Torrented episodes > Watching at forced times. If the series is good enough I'll buy the season DVD (as with BSG, The Office, many other shows).

If a show is shit I will not buy the season DVD, like Heroes, Term:SCC

The show worked for the first 23 episodes and the first 30 minutes of the 24th episode. Why it can't work now is still baffling me.

I just watched the last 5 shows that i had downloaded, While i don't dislike it as i did big chunks of season 2, I am hoping they have a plan and end up radically changing the show/heroes before the season is over. Season 4 with a bad guy of the week might not be so bad.

The moment he made that comment about the end of Season 1 when he was asked why Peter didn't fly off himself instead of Nathan flying him off and his response was, "You shouldn't be thinking of these things!", I just knew this series was not going to do as well. Acting like his audience were idiots and weren't going to over-analyze everything was his mistake. I'd definitely agree that his lack of foresight is at fault.

I don't understand why it has to one or the other. Shows like the X-Files and Smallville have been successful with a mixture of freak-of-the-week and ongoing storyline episodes.

And what super power does E have?

Edit: So my comments after watching the show. WTF with Elle and Sylar. Last week they were all "lets be goodies" and then this week Elle is back to being half psychotic and Sylar is all "sure I'll be crazy killer guy again too!" Way to steal a plot from Avatar of all places btw with the Eclipse stealing powers...

Peter was in the process of fighting of an internal nuclear reaction atm and a bit too busy to fly. But yeah those questions should be assumed and always ahve some kind of answer.
