RIP Tim Russert 1950-2008

NBC's Tim Russert dies of apparent heart attack

I'm shocked Tim Russert died. I always valued his opinion. RIP Tim.

We lost Tim Russert while we are still stuck with the Bill O'Reilly's of the world. The man was the best political interviewer on TV and he will be sorely missed. The 2008 Presidential race has changed today because of the loss of Tim Russert and it isn't a change for the better.

He was one of the better guys to watch talk about politics. Why couldn't it have been Glen Beck, Lou Dobbs, or anyone on Fox.

That's too bad. That said, he was a blight on American Journalism.

That's just a damn shame. I had always enjoyed his interviews in the past and was looking forward to seeing how he would go after this election.

That does indeed suck. When did he die? Seems like he just died a few minutes ago and the release was out on the newswires barely after his final breath.

This makes me rather sad. I liked him over the years.

I've always liked him - since I was a kid. I've liked him even more since growing up and watching how he conducts his journalistic style.

Rest in peace man.

Losing the democratic nomination race as a subject was just too much for him to bear.

Or maybe why couldn't it have just not happened?

Huge loss. He was one of the last members of the unbiased press. With his death, media sinks deeper into the gutter. Nothing but hacks left. Sad day for the world.

Indeed. Rest in peace, but Meet the Press was nothing more than a poorly-disguised propaganda vehicle. Those who value truth have lost nothing today.

Or they'll point to "liberal" Tim Russert -- Tim Russert -- about whom Cheney press aide Cathy Martin said: "I suggested we put the vice president on 'Meet the Press,' which was a tactic we often used. It's our best format, as it allows us to control the message." That's the same "liberal" Tim Russert who confessed that he operates by the defining law of the Government propagandist: "When I talk to senior government officials on the phone, it's my own policy -- our conversations are confidential. If I want to use anything from that conversation, then I will ask permission." Those are the examples proving that we have a "liberal media."
