Oh, whew! I'm not the only male that watches this show after all!

It's not just that it's always Italian food, but food that takes little preparation. Macaroni one week (her "speciality!"), sausage and peppers another, the roast last night. Basically, she's good at throwing stuff in a pot. That worked to her advantage last night since they were looking for simple to make meals, but she's clearly not in the same league as some of the rest.

Top Chef is dope. Especially because they play like six episodes back to back and in order before the new ones air. I don't catch it every week, but like once a month.

Lisa needs to GTFO fast, she's a whiney bitch and took that free trip to italy even though she whined throughout that entire dish that the asian dude and some other girl designed. Fuck her.

I can't believe the peanut butter tomato slop didn't lose.

I can see the point that maybe his curry was a bit sweet and he could have picked better veggies/ingredients to have more protien/nutrition, but they actually said REVOLTING for the girl's mush.

How she is still in the competition boggles my mind.

Bouhhan - if you ever insult Padma again, I'll shove a wooden spoon up your ass. And it won't be the handle.

However, I absolutely love this show. I am actually a chef myself, so it is painfully apparent that some people need to pack up and GTFO. Nikki...holy shit, how many mistakes can you make and still get by? Almost as bad as Zoi (who is thankfully gone). The final two are going to have to be Dale and Richard. They seem to be the only 2 that know how to take appropriate risk in their dishes while still keeping them composed. Stephanie seems like she has skill, but she lacks confidence and that is going to show later on. Richard needs to stop using that smoker though. It is like the new foam (people who watched previous seasons know exactly what I am saying).

I am sad to hear that Mark left last night (didn't get a chance to watch. WRU Tivo). He was goofy as shit and was entertaining to watch even if his food wasn't entirely up to par with some of the others. I'll just have to watch Spike and Andrew for entertainment value now.

I don't know what that couscous tasted like, but a peanut butter and tomato sandwich with a little bit of mayo is darn tasty.

I think if she hadn't been top 3 almost every week for the first half of the competition she would have probably gone home though.

This is the second show in a row where the judges' decision was borderline incomprehensible. Mark should have lost last week for his complete disaster, but didn't, and then didn't do nearly as badly as Stephanie this week but lost somehow anyway. Mark needed to go a LONG time ago, though, so good. He's been consistently bad. But yeah, Nikki's terrible too. I'm rooting for Dale, because he's basically a more likeable and more interesting Hung, he's done a lot of stuff I'd like to eat.

Richard's smoker broke, thank god, but if he says "ras el hanout" one more time I WILL kill him.

This blog post is a good analysis of the current season.

Top Chef

Chef here as well -

I have to agree Stephanie, Richard, and Dale are a cut above the rest. One thing they all have in common is they either are in the winners meeting, or the losers meeting. How many times in past seasons has Colichio bitched about people hiding in the middle of the pack? All three take risks with there food, and usually it does well for them, other times it blows up in their face. Alot of the problem is, with the challenge of the game, is that by the time a dish goes wrong, its too late.

If I run a special, and try to push my culinary boundries, when it works great, when it fails - well guess what won't be added to the menu that night. It takes alot of time to take a great idea and make a great dish. Usually quite a few failures. The 3 above are challenging themselves, and I have to be behind that.

The rest suck - I can't stand Andrew and Spike - they can cook and are amusing, but I don't get the impression anything they do is there own. The girl that one last week sucks, I can't stand her. Richard, is very good, but falls into a habit. Watch the week where he did the salmon he forgot to scale - at some point they flash back to the previous week, and he's done essentially the same dish. My personal favorite is Stephanie - not too cocky, willingness to learn, and apparently really good food.

Rooting for Dale! Richard, of course, is the clear front runner. I agree with all the Nikki hate but I think she is really, really sexy.

I'd be floored (and happy) if Andrew won just because he is so eccentric. And can someone please tell me what Padma's qualifications are other than being hot? I've never seen her before until she started hosting.

Though she hasn't won any well-known awards from the culinary world, she has published 2 cookbooks, one won Best First Book at some Cookbook awards. She has also hosted a few cooking shows. And she is hot as hell.

I think hot as hell is her primary qualification. I could be wrong, but I think her cookbooks came out after she started hosting Top Chef.

Dale and Richard are like Christian was in this season's Project Runway. So far above the rest that they make it all look really easy.

PS - I'm not gay.

Edit: The only reason Nikki is still in it is because she is somewhat attractive-although she made that chicken bake the judges really liked this week.

Her first cookbook was published in 1999.
