| I am very happy. I felt bad for Richard, he comes off as such a nice guy, I hope (and I'm sure) tons of opportunities and doors have opened up for him since. I was fucking nervous there for a second though. Lisa cooked a great meal overall (according to the judges) and I knew it was between her and Steph, and seeing as how the judges only take into account the most current meal, I could have seen her winning. Thank god that chubby, carpet munching bitch lost. |

| Just came on here so I'm avoiding the posts on the last page ![]() But wow, I don't care if he brought twinkies and chicken mcnuggets I'd choose Ripert in a freaking heartbeat. And he brought fish as well....jeez edit: Nice to see Stephanie win, I was rooting for her. As much as I hate Lisa, I think she kicked their collective asses tonight =/ But we can't taste it, so who knows. Last edited by Jait : 06-11-2008 at 10:59 PM. |

| lol, the "text messaging" poll they flashed 10-15 mins before show ended had Lisa at 3%, Steph at 58%, and Richard at 39%. Man, people really hate Lisa lol But yeah being completely objective Lisa really should have won, all her dishes were good and she had no mistakes while people were meh about Steph's desert and she made a mistake with the leeks. THE SHOW IS RIGGED, YO! haha Still glad Lisa didn't win, she was horrible in past shows. Poor Richard, that pork belly fucked him up. Still, he made a mistake so its not like the judges robbed him to make a woman #1. good stuff, too bad its over. Suprised they didn't make more of a event out of the finale, last year they did the judges table live (I guess a few days after the competition) and brought out families and previous contestants, this year they just showed the others for 30 seconds at the end. Hopefully they do a show end Q&A extra episode in the following weeks, and show where the chefs are now. |

| Registered User | Yeah I feel pretty bad for him. I thought he was the best of the pack. If that cow Lisa would have won, I think I would have skipped next season. I agree with what was said earlier about the elimination process being wacky, they should really change it. There's no reason Lisa should have been in the final three. |

| Lisa reminded me of Ilan. I'm fairly sure just like Ilan she cooked right off her own menu. Smart move. I'm not sure why people get to the finale, and suddenly experiment and take huge risks like Richard and Marcel(S2) did. In any event, there's a nice writeup this morning on MSNBC, which mentions Lisa only once, and in a bad way. `Top Chef' finale cooks up a first for Bravo - MSN TV News Hmm link doesn't seem to be working atm, but I read it this morning /shrug |

+7 Internets | I didn't agree with their decision to not provide a second pair of hands to help for the second day. Every finale up to this point they always had help both days. In season 2 they had 2 eliminated contestants. Season 3 they had 1 super chef to help. I could see the argument that they want to make sure they're the ones responsible for the work, but I think it's only when they use previously eliminated contestants that you have things get a little weird in the kitchen (i.e. Sam making Marcel's best dish in the finale). The visiting super chefs know not to interfere with the game. I think that's where Stephanie and particularly Richard really got screwed. They both were thinking very big the first day and into the night, then were screwed the second day. This is very evident in Richard's case where he prepared everything he thought he might use the first day and then went home to plan. Then whatever he had decided on during the night got set aside since now he had to plan a 4 course meal for 9 people that he could do all himself in those few hours. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't this the first finale they threw a curve ball like that in? It would of been one thing to tell them they only had their chefs the first day. But to tell them they also had help on the second day, then play the LOL PSYCHE game....for the finale...was just dumb. That's the whole point of the finale. No games. Just make the best meal you can make and showcase your talents. But they did it twice. First with being limited to the foods your chef had. Then with no help on the second day. |

Everyone hated Tiffany, but Stephen was a stand up guy and after the first two picked Harold he chose her. Unfortunately Stephen and Dave went out that night and got plastered. So the next day they were still drunk when helping her. And they cracked open a bottle of wine during the seating. Tiffany was freaking out that one of them would break a glass and get it into some of the food. Alcohol hangovers kill your palate, so it was extraordinarily unprofessional of them. But I'm still a huge Stephen fan. The other thing was it didn't come entirely down to food in the first season. After all was said and done they brought out the 4 runners up and asked them all who should be Top Chef. All of them picked Harold. He was the best, don't get me wrong. But it shouldn't be a popularity contest. Last edited by Jait : 06-12-2008 at 10:17 AM. | |

| Ugh, the article Jait linked mentioned Bravo plans to introduce Top Chef Jr, with kids competing. I hope one of them burns their hands. the gay guys blog, interesting tidbits on the finalists. He says its 100% the judges call who stays/gos, and they are not allowed to socialize with the constestants so they don't really know who are the drama queens and such. BRAVOtv.com : Top Chef : Season 4 : ted And while the twist "chefs calling in sick" was a bit mean, the reality is that the 3 chefs had over 9 hours to prepare 4 courses from a fixed list of ingredients - more than enough time. What hurt Richard was that he didn't really know what he wanted to do until the next day, but even still it never looked like he had "run out of time" or anything. btw I recommend reading through Tom's blog at BRAVOtv.com : Top Chef : Season 4 : tom its absolutely fascinating stuff. He explains why certain things should be cut/cooked/selected/etc, I never knew why pan cooked steak tastes better. He also explains in a blog from just 2-3 weeks ago that each round is judged independently and why, so that settles that argument (his reasoning is pretty much the same we hit here). | It was a pretty shocking twist that did ultimately favour people that were playing it very safe. If you had an ambitious menu the night before, it was an impossible menu once you were told you had no help. I didn't like the finale at all, the result was good, grats Stephanie, but it was pretty flat and boring compared to the other seasons. It just seemed like another episode. |
