+7 Internets | HBO's Recount HBO: Recount Recount (2008) (TV) After how good John Adams has been, I'm really looking forward to this. It looks like HBO is kicking into high gear now and I can't wait to enjoy the ride. Hopefully a series or two are soon to follow. |

| If you like historical/biographical movies, a few years ago two movies on HBO I thought were excellent: The Path To War (About LBJ and Vietnam, excellent acting by Michael Gambon) The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (excellent acting by Geoffery Rush (Capt Barbossa from PoTC))

+7 Internets | I really enjoyed it when I first saw it. Charlize Theron, Emily Watson & John Lithgow were really good in it and of course Rush was amazing. |

| Saw this the other day when it first aired. It was decent. A little slow. Laura Dern was great in her role, but nearly everyone else was pretty bland and forgettable. I'd say it's a serviceable TV movie, but nothing special. |

I think Laura Dern stood out because she played a crazy bitch who I'm amazed even got elected. Everyone else was way too "normal." | |

+4 Internets | Got to see it today, was surprised to see 3 Brits playing Yanks as it went along. Was an interesting television piece, from this side of the pond it appeared biased as hell towards the Democratic side. Before anyone starts jumping up and down, that's only because I don't know all the story behind what really did happen. I remember 8 years ago, before the internet was the medium it is now, the way it was mostly presented over here was that Gore seemed to be acting like a bad loser. If even half of what happened in Recount actually happened, then wow. Was the Florida Secretary of State really that waffy? ![]() But anyway, as far as Recount goes. Decent cast and was very watchable. Hell of a lot better than the Andromeda Strain anyway! The mixing of old footage and new filming was done well. Some of the cast looked very like their counterparts who were shown during the end credits. It could have done with one of the standard "Fred went on to become a congressman, Daniel was convicted of buggering donkeys" etc for all of the major characters and not just a couple of them. Still, I guess thats what the internet is for!

+5 Internets | I'm not sure if i can sit through a movie like this, already downloaded the first half but haven't viewed it yet. I remember 8 years ago the biggest issues with florida voting wasn't just what was covered by most of the media. There were also a large group of disenfranchised black voters or something that would have skewed the vote in gore's favor. There were also a bunch of other irregularities. Also it's just fucking sad that Diebold (now calling themselves premier election systems) continue to exist. It seriously is not that hard to make a good freaken electronic voting booth. |
