| The ship isnt the SDF-1, it's the Global 4 of the 117th Research Fleet. In the original OP you can see where it left earth much later...supposedly Doctor Mao Nome was on the ship (from Macross Zero) |

+17 Internets | Er, there's always been more SDFs than the SDF-1 Macross and the SDF-2 which was converted into the Megaroad. So the Macross on Gallia-4 is just a First Generation Macross-class ship, not exactly a retcon. Btw, Macross 7 had a Macross-class ship as well in it - though it was a much later Generation model. |

+17 Internets | From what I remember there's usually only one assigned per colony fleet. Each fleet is also a pretty huge entity and government on its own and can have some pretty vastly different stuff. The Macross 5 fleet was made entirely of Zentradi and the Macross 7 fleet is entirely humans & micloned Zentradi (no big guys at all, except Exesdol). Also, it's the "SMS Macross Quarter" so... there could also be a "Macross Frontier" Macross-class ship. Last edited by Sean : 07-07-2008 at 11:00 PM. |

+3 Internets | Macross 25 (Frontier) is a New Macross class ship just like Macross 7. It is docked at the front of Frontier City. I don't think the Macross Quarter belongs to any fleet per se but is just part of the SMS which happens to be currently based out of the Frontier Fleet. As to why the SMS has the Quarter; it looks like the first Macross type ship dedicated to entirely combat, the rest seem to be for colonization and acting as flagships. I'm not quite sure of the nature of SMS yet, so not sure if they do any R&D or just test things in actual combat. But anyway they're likely testing it like how they are the VF-25, NUNS will probably mass produce it in the future to possibly replace a lot of their warships. As for the forth Macross class ship, I'm honestly not even sure if it is appropriate to refer to it as SDF-4. The SDF-2 was originally going to be another Macross class ship but got turned into a Megaroad class colony ship; think only the first Megaroad is referred to as an SDF. The reason this new Macross seems like a retcon is because humanity changed their focus from defense to colonization after the First Space War, so Megaroad class ships were constructed instead of Macross class ships; the New Macross class ships came later. So while it was never flat out said there were no more Macross class ships constructed, the implication was certainly there. |
