Frontier is starting out pretty good. Can't wait for #3. The new transformed SDF gave me goosebumps. I hope we start seeing more Macross series from here on out.

Yeah but 7 was literally swimming in it. When your flying a veritech with your guitar or other musical instrument and shooting speaker pods that attach to the enemy to me thats kinda going over the edge.

Music is an important aspect of Macross but it is secondary to the VF action except for maybe in 7 which I've not seen and really have no intention to. But for anime and particularly mech fans, the original Macross (or Robotech) and Macross Zero are must sees. Macross aged extremely well compared to the original Gundam.

I was looking up some background info on Macross, apparently the SDF-2 Megaroad is MIA on route to the center of the Galaxy which is also Frontier's destination. The Megaroad had (will use Robotech names) Rick Hunter, Minmei, and Lisa Hayes on board it. So it'd be interesting if they found that ship in Frontier, if those 3 characters are alive, they'd be like 60-70 years old. I think the chances of this are slim especially because of how big the galactic core is but it'd be interesting none the less.

I dont know Blide. I dont know much of the history of the Sentinel's saga but Rick Hunter, Minmei and alot of the well knowns from the original Macross were in that. As well as Robotech Shadow Chronicles. They were on a mission to find the Robotech Masters home planet, but found it abandoned and overrun with the invid. Im not sure what happened after that but they were flying the SDF-3 which was a non transformable SDF built to look more like a zentradi ship than the original Macross SDF.

Edit: And yeah the Veritech action is almost always the main focus of the any Macross series. Macross 7 though was an exception and couldnt stand watching it after 4 episodes. Macross Zero, Frontier, and the original were all great examples of the story of Macross.

According to Wikipedia, the Megaroad is the ship seen lifting off in #1.

I don't necessarily like that his 2 school pals are already "in" on the piloting thing.

Anyway though I did like 7 it was way over the top yeah.

The original Macross (Music as Culture Shock), Zero (Music triggering Psion-like powers) and Plus (Music used to Mind Control) all handled the music --> weapon thing pretty well and I have hopes Frontier will do the same.

Yeah it was late for me after a long day. So forgive me a little lol.

Macross Frontier is looking to be intensely badass though. Hope we get to see that new SDF in action next episode.

Haven't watched anime for a few years, that was great and refreshing. Makes me wish there was a Macross game with its own special controller like Steel Battalion.
