The Great Fox News Debate

Take your shit talking away from the thread and put it here.

He should have spent the time going to William Buckley's funeral to get some conservatives.

Obama has successfully been painted as the "Boogeyman" who is going to kill all White People, make Al Shapton Vice President, Louis Farrakhan Secretary of State, and Jeremiah Wright head of the CIA by Hannity and FOX news. He gains nothing by going on FOX news. If I were his advisor, FOX would be dead to us. Apparently, as Karl Rove said, wearing an American flag pin qualifies you to be President. Therefore, Obama does not qualify.

That appeals to people in the fly over states. The fly over states are not going to elect a Democrat regardless of who they are so they should be dead to the Obama campaign. Flag pins are very important to the fly overs.

If people are concerned about media bias, they should allow themselves to be exposed to a variety of sources, be aware of the accusations of bias against those particular sources and how they handle stories/issues, and decide for themselves. Also, be sure to put TV sources of "news" down at the bottom of the list, particularly in America where the majority of it is spectacle and speculation for the purpose of ratings.

^^

this is why real clear politics is so great. collects a bunch of articles from a bunch of places and provides the reader with mulitiple viewpoints if they are so inclined. doesnt sensationalize with polls, takes averages etc.

RCP for life. ONLY reliable, unbiased news source imho.

Some evidence for the anti-fox side (which IMO is the clear side). CNN, MSNBC, etc. for the most part don't run and modify all news items exclusively to further their agenda. They also attempt to be professional.

Former fox investigative reporters being silenced.

A large number of employee's being threatened/forced to act in a manner only to further their agenda.

Racially Charged, Anti-Black Fox. Fox has a massive number of guests saying some of the most racially charged shit by any news network.

Fox editing out something from Colbert report to make dem congressmen look worse.

How they report on Candidates they've shown anger/hatred/ignorance towards before.

The difference between the mainstream news organizations is that while some reporters/anchors might have a bit of liberal bias due to the type of their job, the ENTIRE reason of existence for Fox News is to promote an agenda.

Or just learn to discern fact from opinion. The problem isn't that these sources are biased. It is that they have an extremely low fact to opinion ratio. I don't watch Fox News because it is always running opinion pieces, not because they are biased (as a conservative, theirs would line up with mine anyway).

There is no such thing as an unbiased opinion. Conversely, a fact provided by Fox News is just as good as one provided by CNN or a newspaper. My problem with them has always been over quantity, not quality.

Everyone has an agenda they are promoting. All media outlets will say whatever it takes to sell more papers/commercials.

I read the WSJ, which caters to financial-centric (which I am not) subscribers. They have a strong political bias towards McCain. I think that their fact-finding is second to none despite their bias.

That said, I also read their opinion columns. It just allows me to get an all around good idea of the issues. I can use them to go find the facts on my own. Along those lines, I also frequent the Slate, a liberal online magazine. Just because I don't agree with their political stance doesn't mean they aren't intelligent. Liberals can't be wrong every single time.

Just most of them.

Fox news is closer to Rush Limbaugh than CNN, MSNBC etc are to Air America.

I wish we had a liberal bias TV news station that was analogous to Fox.

Fox has literally changed the (R) next to Larry Craig's name to a (D). They are without a doubt in a league of their own.

With that said, Phelps is still right. The noise (or "opinion") to fact ratio on ALL American (and really, most to all tv) news is just disgusting, and if you are getting your news from these sources you are inevitably going to be retarded.

And I don't even agree that CNN or MSNBC are liberal. They host a few liberal personalities sure (Olbermann on MSNBC, the flamingly homosexual Anderson Cooper on CNN), but by and large their content is not liberal, I find it very centrist (aka wrong, since i'm a commie liberal) and they engage in just as much racebaiting and fearmongering as Fox does.

Olbermann is without a doubt the most liberal MSM guy around, and his network still hosts Scarborough and Matthews, both of whom are pretty right of center (but in the oldschool small-gov't Republican way, so they hate Bush too.)
