Was a pretty good adaption of the two books (Color of Magic and Light Fantastic). Check out Hogfather if you've not seen it.

Good adaptation but I find the books humor reads better than played out on screen.

The actor playing Rincewind (David Jason) did a good job, even if I always did picture that character as a bit younger. Apparently he also played Albert in the Hogfather adaptation. Sean Astin was fine as well, and I had no problem with the fact that they decided to make Twoflower an American tourist rather than an Asian one. Jeremy Irons as the Patrician and Christopher Lee as Death were of course spot on, but the most credit goes to David Bradley as Cohen imo.

They did cut some stuff out (Bel-Shamaroth, Hrun, the water troll) but that was to be expected. The effects were good, considering it's a TV production. The Luggage looked great and even the Librarian ape-suit worked out alright.

The problem is that only about 25% of the funny in the books come from the dialogue. The rest is found in the descriptions, explanations of things unique to the Discworld, footnotes etc. You can't translate that to film unless you want to have someone constantly narrating, which doesn't work out very well.

So, considering the difficulty in adapting a Discworld book, I thought The Colour of Magic was decent enough. Rumor has it that Sourcery is next.

I guess they arn't planning on going as far as Interesting Times since that book 100% confirms without a doubt that Twoflower is a chinese tourist. They will have to totally change the plot to fit it to an american.

I haven't seen this yet, is it up on any streaming sites yet?

Yeah, they've said that there are no plans to make Interesting Times at the moment. And since Twoflower is only described as "foreign" in TCoM/TLF and Sean Astin had expressed an interest in a Discworld part to Pratchett himself, they decided to cast him.

As for streaming sites, dunno. I can't stand anything less than stage6 quality and since that is gone now, I just torrent my shows/movies.
