What? In the VERY FIRST EPISODE ("33") they have had to jump away from the cylons like 150 times over the period of a week, all coordinated and ran by the Galactica. You might want to go back and watch that episode again.

Also I don't recall anyone stating the Galactica/Pegasus and what fleet jumped with them was gone for a year. I think I head four months mentioned.. once when Anders is talking about how long since Starbuck had been taken by the cylons. The year period was how long the humans were on New Caprica before the cylons arrived.

I think you are not remembering things all that well...I know which show i'm watching. I'm probably the biggest fan of the show on this message board.

The head of the black market was the black dude from Predator, wasn't he? I'm gonna bleed you REAL QUIET.

Too bad the god of hair gel greased him.

And personally, I thought the suicide bombing stuff was bold. Making the protagonists into suicide bombers took some balls.

Yes, I think we are, I just think a part of the fleet is delusional when it comes to accepting the reality of their situation.

I had nothing against the suicide bombers or things like that. That seemed realistic. Like I said, I just have issues with the whole "We must remain a democracy/republic even if it means we are going to die" bullshit.

They have said so many times why they remain that way, they've threatened martial law a few times, they know if they try it, people will revolt, hell the fuel refinery ship already basically did so.

They felt they had no choice in what they did so they stopped production and almost crippled the fleet. Tensions are high, taking away what freedoms they feel they have left would cause open anarchy, so I feel what they are doing makes all the sense int he world.

I disagree. Just because the leadership doesn't have the guts to space them / shoot them in the head like the great leader of the Pegasus, doesn't mean it wouldn't have worked.

That and I'm not even really talking about the minor stuff like that. Even under martial law the revolt could've happened. I'm talking about, again, the stuff like..

"We're on the run, low on supplies, we need every fighter/farmer/mechanic we can get....what do you do?"

"I'm a reporter lol."

Seriously. Given the quality of writing in general, I can't believe they expect us to believe that thirty or so people - what's that, 1 in 1000 people? - are reporters. How are there that many media outlets? Shit, even if they're independent blogger types, that's too much variety for a population that small with so much else to worry about. Jeez, I come from a town of 40,000, and we don't even have our own newspaper. I love the show, but the politics are beyond unrealistic given their situation.

Not really considering there are 9 colonies involved. Each one with its own agenda political view and needs. Probably each one has its own TV news, newspaper/radio commentator.

Absolutely, to the point of absurdity actually. It doesn't matter how resilient a democracy is, when your entire existence is consistently threatened and the only thing preventing systematic extinction is the military, it's will be a military dictator without fail because that's where the entirety of power lies. Sure, the civilians could revolt against Galactica but it's not like a revolt against the military in a normal scenario, it's mass suicide (extinction actually) if you win. Furthermore, with only 40,000 humans left, Democracy is simply too inefficient compared to other more essential daily activities.

I think one of the ships was the CNN Wolf Blitzer-mobile or some shit. Keep in mind the ragtag context. Actually, since most of the reporters spent their time on the pleasure cruise liner, which was destroyed (I think?), they may all be dead. I'm sure that poor old black dude who tended the garden is dead if it went up, at least.

You're making the rather MASSIVE assumption that the ragtag fleet is a perfect sampling of civilians, which it most certainly is not.

You should clarify because your point is vague at best.

I quoted the wrong person, sorry. I meant to quote Havelock. He's talking about the ratio of reporters to other professions. It's entirely possible that there are many more reporters per capita than there normally would be considering there was an entire fucking media ship as part of the ragtag fleet.

Galatica had reporters on it for the decomissioning ceremony in the movie, they were traveling back to Caprica on Colonial one when the Cylon attacked happened. That's where all the reporters came from.
