Also try watching Torchwood Season 1 between Doctor Who Seasons 1 and 3, it's the more adult spinoff and leads into the Season 3 storyline.

just finished watching doctor who season 1 and the christmas episode for season 2. they give you a hint of what they refer to as torchwood(anagram of Doctor Who).
incredible series so far. i admit i dont like david tennant so much compared to eccelston. then again Eccelston is no Tom Baker, not even a cool scarf.
