Star Wars TV Show

Not sure if this is old or new news but:

Is Lucas' 'Star Wars' TV series preparing for takeoff?

Multiple sources have confirmed to EW.com that George Lucas is coming to Los Angeles next week to meet with writers for his long-gestating live-action Star War series. According to one agent familiar with the project, Lucas' plan is to recruit several freelancers - aka "writers of real significance" - to spend a week at the Skywalker Ranch in November to come up with story ideas for the series. The agent also said that Lucas has indicated a desire to hire writers from other countries. The scribes would then disperse and write the 13 episodes that would be produced and financed by Lucas.

Too bad he didn't do this for the prequels.

He also needed dialogue writers and another director. And whoever cast Jake Lloyd should have been stabbed in the face.

On-topic, I've heard buzz about this before, and hope it is moving forward, but that Lucas finances it, nothing else.

Now if only they would do something like this for Star Trek, but keep it episodic like the Twilight Zone in order to come up with their next 'Trek series idea.

Atleast he's outsourcing the writing, although the way I get around bad dialogue is just to take it in as a retelling of a story, or something.

Hopefully this series will be as good as the Clone Wars one.

It's really old news, but nothing around here on it. But here's the gist of the rumors we've been treated to over the last 3 years...

Lucas has 2 TV shows he wants done. A live-action one, and an animated series. The Live-Action series has been planned for about 4 years now (Lucas claims he will write at least 40* eps of it), but it's been put on hold while he tries to find a home for his new animated series. The bitch is-- he wont compromise. He wants the animated show on at either 9pm or 10pm. And it cannot be a childrens network due to the content (his choice).

In other words, Cartoon Central is out of the running. NBC doesn't want it, neither does Fox. Unless your name is "South Park", a 9pm or 10pm animated series isn't a big draw, no matter the subject. That leaves only once place.... The Sci-Fi network. Supposedly they are/were interested *after* BSG gets finished up, but they also have "an ace in the hole" new series that they're not telling anyone about.

To be clear though, this is *not* the Live Action series. That article has some bad info, or they're confusing the two. These are two completely different projects. The Live Action series takes place during EpIII-EpIV, and that's *not* the one he's currently pitching around and looking for writers for. It's the animated series.

Animated Series:

edit: *Lucas originally said 100, now it's 40 according to Wiki. But either way, that's 2 full seasons. And him being him, he'll change his mind 50x before the ink dries.
