2nd eps felt more solid

But still, compared to the OC:

The characters are less engaging
The actors are less charismatic
The dialogs are less... "snappy"?

I don't see this reaching the heights of OC Season 1.

They need to ease into the character peril rather than starting off with serious shit first episode.. 2 of the female characters were sexually assaulted in the first episode alone, and 2 of the main male characters have already started the hitting/pushing game too. They need to take it a bit more slowly or else it'll just be a bunch of bitch-slapping all season, either that or someone will bring an AK-47 to the hotel next time... and what more peril can the female characters get into? They've declared unending hatred and war right off the bat episode 1... they need to take it a bit more slowly.

And yea, the dad doesn't look old enough and serena looks way too old. Although the actress playing Serena is actually 20 and the one playing Blair is 21. The dad is actually 38.. so I guess thats believable.

While I agree, I don't think the show is strong enough to survive the build-up to conflict. Not enough people would tune in. This way, it'll pull in numbers sheerly through the awesome bitchiness of it.

Although the show does get points from me for putting in a serial rapist as one of the main characters.

Eh I dunno, I think the whole rich new york kids thing can be done for a while and have people tune in just on the sheer WTF factor of seeing how they live.. or at least how the show could portray them living. Like Cruel Intentions, there was only what, one fight the whole movie? Doesn't have to be straight up drama the whole time. It sets the tone of the show and they have to keep escalating or it'll get stale.

"I'm Chuck Bass"

Best answer to a college interview process I've ever heard.

While I can't condone Chuck Bass's date-rapist habits, and I think he's a total douchebag, I can't help but love him. "Because I'm Chuck Bass" is the best response ever to a college interview question.

This past episode was intriguing to say the least. I find the fact that Serena and Blair have reconciled their differences so hastily to be somewhat disconcerting. Where are they going to take the storyline now? They took the most major plot line of the first two episodes, one which they made to seem so incredibly important, and alleviated it with a few hugs, tears, and apologies. I don't understand.

Is Chuck Bass going to step to the plate now as the major bad guy? Will he take his game to another level? I honestly hope they start focusing on him as the major asshole in this series. He needs to rise above Blair. Though that could be difficult, as she actually went out of her way to make public the incorrect allegation that was Serena's drug habit, in front of a group of Ivy Leaguers nonetheless.

And then there is Jenny and Dan. I got the feeling from the previous episode that we were going to see Jenny take a bite from the forbidden fruit and join the likes of Blair and her cohorts. But instead she now seems to have set her eyes on Serena's odd brother. I had pretty much penned him as gay up until the point where he seemed to be flirting with Jenny. That whole scenario was just too weird for me. They seem to be playing off his suicide attempt as a mere case of the flu. We'll see where that goes.

I'd comment on Dan, but he's just so incredibly boring that I'm going to choose not to. Everytime he comes on sceen, I cringe.

All that said, I can't wait for next week.

I dunno if its even possible to ever top Blair in the "complete asshole" department. I mean, she literally ruined her ex-friend's life. There is no way you can get past the stigma of getting publicly outed as a teenage drug addict, even if it is false.

I dunno how Chuck could top that. Maybe if he used his mad Date-Rape skills on Serena's little brother. It'd at least be hilarious.

So Chuck actually came out of last nights episode as the good guy. Interesting.
