First off, sorry for the 6 month thread Necro. I work overseas, so I usually wait for entire seasons on DVD. I just finished watching this series and wanted to comment.

Seems the writers strike affected this season more than any "bad writing". The simple fact there were only 11 episodes made me wonder wtf was going on. Like everyone else, I was completely let down by the finale.

To shed some light on a lot of speculation, I watched all of the Special Features on the BluRay disks. Basically, confirming it was all fucked up due to the writers strike. They actually had fiming being shot on through E213 (two episodes past the "finale")

The interview with Kring basically said that the plan was for the virus to be released. When Hiro ported Adam and we see the vial drop, it was shot to hit the floor and become ground zero. The real season finale was supposed to be an "Outbreak" type setting with big budget military quarantine etc. Some of the scenes were used in the aired E211 finale like when Nathan was giving his speech and was shot... basically, it was filmed that he was giving his speech and he collapsed from the onset of the virus.

The big one everyone has been speculating about was Ma Patrelli's comment "You've opened Pandora's Box." This was filmed for the intended finale and was supposed to be her reaction to hearing of the virus's outbreak.

Pretty damn sad, but its very clear the E211 finale was hastily thrown together to cut the series as soon as the writers strike was announced. They shitcanned their entire S2 storyline to call it quits.

I am highly skeptical of S3.

*EDIT* Ooops forgot. The whole Maya wrap-up was supposed to be the fact that she can absorb plagues and she would be the big Hero of the season by saving the entire town that was in the quarantine. She supposedly was meant to absorb so much of the virus that she would die when saving everyone. (Gives some purpose to the Maya storyline, I guess)

That makes 100% perfect sense. I was always wondering why they threw in that terrible storyline, with crappy powers.

I always figured Maya would have been the plauge but that definitely makes more sense.

That would have made Maya's story almost worth all the shitty scenes with her brother.

Oh Peter is inside of that level 5 prisoner's body. And seems like Niki's personalities gives her different powers.
