| Big Love Is anyone else watching this? I love it. Not like I loved The Sopranos, but more than I loved Heroes. I tried searching, but I found nothing within the 4st 4 pages of results, so if this a redendant threat I apologise. |

| I love this show. The longer it goes on though, the more you realize how fucked up Polygamy is. Bill Paxton (such an awesome actor, btw) pretty much abuses religion to get himself laid. The sad thing is that he honestly believes in it too. Of the three wives, only the middle one actually believes in "the principal". The first wife only does it out of love for the husband, and the third fakes all the religious stuff for financial security. |

| I haven't seen much of season 2, but the wife and I watched season 1. Funny thing: My friends works for a guy that he is certain they based this entire show off of (in SLC). He was almost exactly like Bill Paxton's character; thrown out of the compound at a young age, practiced polygamy, etc etc. Pretty interesting stuff. I do like the show though, but you couldn't get me to marry another woman without some serious benefits. One is too much work as it is.

| Season 2 almost, I said almost, give me a break, reminds me of the sopranos in so much as the sympathy/disgust you feel for bill paxton's character trying to balance work/family. I agree with the above poster, season 2 is really showing how completly fucked up the princaple really is. lots of time spent on the compound so far in season 2. and dare i say we have been introduced to a dude creepier than roman grant? my favorite character is the youngest wife. she cracks me up. I think, and thius is pure speculation, that the 1st wife will end up not involved anymore somehow and become like a recovered poligymist or something. the 2nd will never be happy unless she return to the compound to live properly. the 3rd wife, im not sure about. ao where do you think mom is getting that cash? I havnt seen this weeks episode yet, gonna catch it this weekend, just in case you all already know and i dont yet. |

| That is the only part of the show that I seem to enjoy. Margene is adorable. I find the whole show kinda blah though to be honest, I only ever seem to watch when I am bored late at night and nothing else is on. I dont actively try to watch Big Love. Show does show you how fucked up those peoples lives are though. I cant imagine wanting to live in a world that I have to constantly deceive everyone around me just to try and appear normal. | It's one of my favorite shows currently on television. The show has some excellent villains. I'm loving the stuff with Rhonda just because of what a duplicitous bitch she is. Quote:
I think you're correct on Barb though. It seems she was more or less guilted into the situation. She was dying and Nikki was taking care of her. I imagine it was difficult for her to turn down the proposal while she likely felt indebted to Nikki. She seems to struggle with it the most out of the three of them, but Bill always is able to get her back. Barb and Margene are almost mirrors in this regard. Barb does it purely out of love for Bill, despite struggling with the situation. Margene does it because she loves the situation, despite struggling with the people (since she's always looked down on by the other two). That's really simplifying it though. I think there's also a part of Barb that likes the polygamy because she likes having control. | |

+1 Internets | Well, i basically meant banging 3 wives is good. The responsibilities for that must be a pain in the ass. Hell, it wasnt to much of a pain in the ass for him to actually consider a 4th. |

| They are fundamentalists not mormons. The mormons dont do the multiple wives thing and havnt done for along time. That is one thing the show has tried to be careful on I noticed because they try and mention several times through out the series that they are not mormon. When Bill is scouting out that potential 4th wife she asks him during dinner "Are you mormon?" and he kinda pauses and goes "I sorta do my own thing". That bishop that came to talk to Barb on this last episode? That guy is mormon. I guess at some point Bill's family use to be though so he really does kinda "do his own thing" Last edited by Lost Ranger : 07-31-2007 at 04:09 PM. |
