+20 Internets | Jon Stewart to NBC? NBC courting Jon Stewart? By Tim Surette - TV.com June 18, 2007 at 05:34:00 PM | more stories by this author Peacock reportedly has "exploratory" meeting with Daily Show host; Fallon tells Howard Stern he's next in line for Conan's job. The landscape of late-night talk shows is set to change drastically in a few years, as current hosts of the nighttime programs are set to play a little musical chairs. NBC has the most to pay attention to, with Jay Leno leaving The Tonight Show in 2009 and handing over the reigns to Late Night host Conan O'Brien. The network has undergone a series of personnel changes in an effort to right its sinking ratings ship, and could be eyeing The Daily Show's wildly popular host Jon Stewart, says the Web site Broadcasting & Cable. Citing a network source, the site claims that NBC Universal head Jeff Zucker recently "wined and dined" Stewart and his agent over some "exploratory" talks. Zucker is apparently interested in pulling Stewart away from Comedy Central, who has Stewart on contract until 2008. Meanwhile, online The Howard Stern Show stenographer MarksFriggin.com gave highlights of this morning's show, in which Saturday Night Live alum Jimmy Fallon allegedly told Stern about his future late-night plans. Fallon, who has long been rumored to be the successor to O'Brien's late-night chair, says a contract has actually already been signed between him and NBC. The site claims Fallon said he would replace O'Brien whenever the lanky redhead left his current gig, and that the contract forbids Fallon from doing any other jobs as a talk-show host. I'd love to see him get some more time... 20mins just isn't enough. Although it'd be even cooler if HBO picked him up and gave him the full hour. Maybe even include round tables like Maher has, I could see Stewart doing well in those. |

+20 Internets | Conan never made me laugh either... I honestly found his show to be pretty boring and half the monologue is about what a great show it's going to be that night... /yawn Leno needs to stick around longer ![]() |

+1 Internets | Conan being replaced by jimmy fallon? fucking hell thats the worst news ive heard all day. cannot stand him, he's already played out his "i'm just a cutie pie who smirks and giggles and has no actual comedic talent" i admit conan sometimes goes overboard with talking about himself... but he is still such a great host as for john stewart... i just dont know how he would do outside of his comedic news routine... |

| i can't picture him leaving comedy central. He is the daily show. Comedy Central will fight tooth and nail to keep him and colbert together for their 1 hour of godliness. |

+11 Internets | Stewart is great when he's interviewing other entertainers. Everyone else his interviews are fucking wretched 90% of the time. I love the Daily Show and most everything he does on it, but more often than not I end up turning off the interviews. 5 minutes for maybe 1 laugh or interesting comment is not worth it. Colbert interviews >>>>>>>>> Stewart interviews. Not really a fair comparison because Colbert is all schtick of course but still.

| Well that's part of the problem for Stewart, its still political and depending what side of the fence you are on, you don't want to have to listen to random leftist or rightist windbag have a real interview.
