Having not read(and not planning on) the books, I found the opposite to be true. I could barely stand the first batch of episodes and then the show started to improve.

I agree. I almost quit on the show after the first 3-4 episodes, but I think it has gotten a lot better since then. I am really liking Sam now, and the show in general is a lot more interesting. I was almost hoping Bill was really dead because I think I would enjoy Sookie and Sam as a couple more than Bill, who is starting to get kind of lame IMO.

My guess is the next couple is going to be Erik and Sookie. Erik seems to have some sort of interest in her. And you know either this new vampire chick or the old one who made him is going to come back around and screw up his relationship with Sookie.

Well I tried reading the first book and only got about 50 pages before I stopped, that was some shitty writing. So show > books as far as I'm concerned.

Also agree that it improved as it went along, and I was glad they didn't spend all of the last episode dealing with the killings, but instead did some conclusion on it and set up for the next season, very nice.

I thought the first few episodes sucked, then it became watchable (though still painfully bad for anyone who has read the books), but the finale went right back into the shitter as the worst episode of the season.

And yes, the first book isn't that great. They get a lot better as the series goes on.

Jason Stackhouse seriously has to be the stupidest fucking guy I have ever encountered in a work of fiction. Every goddamn time I think he might be headed for redemption, he turns around and does something even more retarded than the stupid shit he just got out of.

Book 2 is much better but book 3 was by far my favorite to date.

I find it a joke that Paquin got a Golden Globe for her acting on this show while Natalie Dormer on Tudors didn't get even get a nomination. Natalie's performance on Tudor's was light years ahead of what Paquin did on True Blood.

I really tried to like this show, but the acting was so poor, even from Anna Paquin, it couldn't keep my attention throughout the entire season.

Lafayette was about the only interesting character of the episodes I watched. Considering the depth of characters on Six Feet Under, Alan Ball really laid an egg with this show, how did it get renewed for a second season?
