Stargate SG1 & Atlantis

Last season, Canadian TV aired Atlantis a few weeks earlier than the US - I think they didn't take a mid-season break. Does anyone know if they plan to do the same this year? Possibly do it with SG-1 as well? Watching the two shows out of sync was odd at times, but I just can't bring myself to wait longer than I have to

I think the next season is due to start in the first week of July?

They're not showing it this year it seems.

Tis a shame really. The quality on the sci-fi channel rips is horrible compared to the canadian ones.

Hmm, I have noticed some unfortunate quality on sg-1 episodes as well... wish they'd start ripping more episodes to 720p... 700mb per episode isn't all that bad.

I don't think the episodes are broadcasted in HD in the US. I live in the UK, so, I usually download the episodes. One thing I did find though is that if you waited a few days longer, the episodes would be shown on the UK channel Sky One, and they were considerably better quality rips. As of a few weeks ago, Sky One has an HD stream available, so hopefully we can get some high quality HD releases instead of those awful ones off the sci-fi channel.

Good to see Atlantis back on the air via Canada, and I almost think its good to have it seperated from SG1 and BSG. Kinda gives them all space though Atlantis needs it the most I think.

Isn't SG-1 still canceled?

Angry

Damn SCI-FI should never have broken the triple SG1/Atlantis/BSG lead in format.

I heard BSG isn't doing as well this season as it has in the past. Not sure how true that is, but losing it's two massively popular lead-ins might be a reason why.

The shows all complimented each other well and should have remained as a block.

Just read on Wiki that MGM is planing to do 2 direct to DvD movies to finish out the Ori story line and possibly an 11th season on another network. Sci-fi said they didn't pull it over ratings /shrug

I've hated Sci-Fi since Farscape. I can understand that the show lost viewers and I've read the arguements against the show, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about what they replaced it with in the time slot. Tremors: The Series. This is the kinda bullshit Sci-Fi pulls. I can't imagine someone choosing tremors over farscape, even if they think the show wasn't as good as it could have been.

I think their problem is displayed with an action like that. They have the wrong mentality about sci-fi/fantasy.

Got a link for that rumored 11th episode? I honestly don't know why they'd pull SG-1, don't they have less popular stuff to pull? The stuff gets syndicated and has a fanbase around the world, I can't believe this isn't profitable once you include DVD sales... not to mention they share things like the CGI studio with Atlantis, so pulling SG-1 would make Atlantis more expensive to make.

Exactly. It looks lke two of the shows' ratings have sputtered since they split them up. Supposedly the NBC Execs are pushing these screwed up decisions. I don't see why they needed to make a change. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Only stuff I found on it was from Wiki, which has to be taken lightly.

Sci-Fi just aired a commercial that said SG-1 is returning for its final season in April. TV.com had the news report too dated Dec. 8th. I guess that's good news, depending on how you felt about the show.
