The episode was still very interesting. And it didn't beat spider man it was just estimated to beat it. Plus they're doing this against all odds with all the blackouts. Who knew Aquaman was so popular?

I think that's an overstatement. I never even thought of it as a running joke, I guess I watch it more for the characters than what movie Vince is doing, though.

Ari is just pure fucking money. I can't wait for that Seth Green episode to air as well.

Maybe you missed about 80% of season 2 and just assumed Aquaman thing stayed a joke, but from the second James Cameron signed on for it the joke went away. Became a very serious thing. It was like the overlying story of the entire season. James Cameron could make Aquaman cool, that's why they got so pumped for it.
