| Possible bad news for Deadwood taken from cnn.com: 'Deadwood' may be done HBO not picking up options on actors Friday, May 12, 2006; Posted: 8:36 a.m. EDT (12:36 GMT) LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- The upcoming third season of HBO's "Deadwood" might mark the end of the dark Western. The pay cable network has opted not to pick up the options of the actors on the show, releasing them to pursue other projects. "Deadwood" creator David Milch is shifting his attention to "John From Cincinnati," a one-hour project he is writing for HBO. The surfing-themed drama has been ordered as a pilot, subject to finalizing deals on the financial and talent side. HBO sources said there are conversations about the future of "Deadwood" beyond the third season, which premieres June 11. But with the actors moving on to other commitments, it is highly unlikely that all the main cast members would be available to do additional episodes in the future. HBO is a unit of Time Warner, as is CNN. |

| Sad but can't say I'm surprised These shows must be a fortune to produce and maintain - it makes me fear for the future of their Rome series as well. Curious as to what direction they're going with the Sopranos going off the air; six feet under is over, sex in the city is gone, Carnivale is gone, curb your enthusiasm potentially not coming back, Deadwood possibly being in its last season. I really don't see what they're going for. Extras? Entourage? Perhaps back to the 30 minute cheap production shows (sex in the city!) At least the wire comes back - that and Bill Mareh will keep me paying for now. |

| Not to spoil anything, but after reading up on the history of Deadwoodl, if they actually follow history, they probably could wrap the show up in one season. I'm not sure how entertaining it would be but they can definitely put a creative spin on the real events to bring the show to a close. I'm hoping that is not the case. They could actually do a spin off on Bullock who did lead a fairly interesting life. They would need to alter and elaborate some events in his life (which they have already done) but he was a US marshall as well of one of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. |

| article in USA Today talks about them making 2 x 2 hour movies to end the series in 2007, so we'll just get these 12 episodes then two movies afterwards on HBO.
