| Freaks & Geeks I know there have been some threads about this old series in the past, but I wanted to start a new one to encourage people to go out and buy the DVD. This is another one of those shows (like "Firefly") that I discovered on DVD after finally paying heed to tons of recommendations from friends over the years. And let me tell you -- when your friends are bugging you to watch a series that was unfairly cancelled after 1 season years ago, they're usually onto something. Much like "Firefly," "Freaks & Geeks" was cut down in its prime, and I'm really saddened by the fact that there aren't more episodes in the works. On display in this show are any number of great factors. From writers Paul Feig, Judd Apatow, Mike White, etc, we get some groundbreakingly funny comedy, mixed with some genuine heart. That's a combination I rarely see on television this day in age, when most shows opt for either one of two extremes: absurdist comedy or too much drama. There's also a very talented young cast in this show -- including a young, pre-famous James Franco, the ever-hilarious Seth Rogen, Linda Cardellini, and a personal favorite, Jason Segel (the guy who now plays Marshall on "How I Met Your Mother"). Everything just works. Aside from a tendency for later episodes to get slow and ponderous, the show is very consistently solid throughout its 18-ep run. Anyone else a fan?

| True, although lately I've been finding that the drama on The Office doesn't really "work." It used to, but lately, the show has been getting too dramatic, to the detriment of the comedy. Maybe that's just me, but I liked the show better when it was maybe 90% comedy, 10% drama. Now it feels like 50/50. |

| I loved this show when it was on. Sorta like a contemporary version of The Wonder Years. Except more funny and less crying. Definately a good show.

+20 Internets | Great show, I love Seth Rogen. Funny thing is after you watch Freaks and Geeks and watch other shows on TV or movies you recognize so many of the people grown up.

| Ha, I loved Freaks and Geeks. It's shitty that they always seem to cancel the best TV shows. As for The Office, do you mean the American version or the original BBC one? I never liked the American one, but the BBC one is awesome. |
