I'm about halfway through the season. Gonna watch the rest of it all day today in marathon style. So far I'm enjoying it quite a bit, but I do have to remind myself they're on a TV budget. I have some of the same problems I do with any sci-fi flick, but since I like the actors well enough I'm getting past it.

It's hard to enjoy sci-fi sometimes because it doesn't make any logical sense. For example the doctor takes rose 5 billion years ahead. They're on a space station with a bunch of aliens to witness the end of the earth because the sun expands. The space station seems a bit silly in the sense that beneath the window dressing it seems like a modern structure. The station still uses wiring for certain things, etc... Just doesn't see to represent the level of technology that would be used 5 billion years from now from our perspective. Of course, aliens could exist currently that have been around for millions and billions of years so it would be different from their point of view.

And ugh, I absolutely hate movies and shows that have aliens trying to destroy earth. It's just silly. There's so many possibilities for earth being destroyed and in many of them it would happen without us even knowing it or much less putting up a defense and beating the aliens. One good thing I like about dr who so far is that when they have the aliens do such things it isn't a massive movement. For example in one episode it's just a small group trying to use earth to turn a profit. At least with that I can suspend my disbelief to the point of being able to enjoy the show.

One thing that's odd getting used to is the british humor. I don't normally see anything made from there, but some of the writing is fairly clever.

About Rose...I try to imagine how I would react in those situations. I firmly believe that a strong possibility exists for aliens. If I was confronted with aliens or something out-of-world then I suppose I would be shocked. However, I think that shock would fade quickly enough and be replaced by extreme curiosity. I'd want to dive right in and learn/experience everything I could. This is assuming the aliens were at least somewhat friendly. If they were hostile or simply viewed me as a specimen then I guess I'd be knocked out and receiving a raping via anal probe anyways.

And yeah, I'd fuck the hell outa her. She does have that slutty, "fuck me then deposit the baby batter on my face" look.

Just finished the first season and the extra TV movie? Or whatever the hell it is. I don't wanna explain much more than that in case people are watching week-to-week on sci-fi. Overall I enjoyed the season. I'll probably keep watching. I think the second season airs this spring/summer at some point over there.

Even though I enjoy the show I have some serious problems with how they handle time travel and paradoxes. It just clashes with everything I think on the subject. This is my general thought about time summed into a single sentence (which may sound completely stupid):

Everything that happens is suppose to happen because that's the way it happens.

Feel free to quote me anytime you like. Essentially I don't think you can change time, change the past, or change the future or change anything at all. There's no real changing since whatever goes on is suppose to anyways. Whatever happens or has ever happened has already happened in the past, present, and future.

It's not as if time is a string and if you travel to the past and kill someone that you splice in a different thread. Your splice was part of the original string to begin with. In this sense I disagree that one's actions would be negative or positive in terms of preserving the true course of events in time if one was to travel to the past or future and make an impact.

Due to this, and a little common sense, I have great conflict with a few things done in some episodes of this new series. But, hey...I'm a sucker for decent sci-fi so I put that aside and enjoy the show.
