Drama > reality, basically. Most viewers will connect more with the scenes if its the characters they know rather than Surgeon Number 3. Also, it saves some money by not having to hire more extras.

S3E3 really felt like the old House. It's reverting again. This was probably one of the best House episodes I've ever seen.
