An older one that is insanely funny: Dream On. The toughts of the main character are illustrated by clips of black and white movies or tv shows. Illarious and even more so if you are somewhat of a film buff.

I think Alias and Nip/Tuck are the current front runners, I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I've already seen most of the seasons of Scrubs and Dead Like Me, and I've seen every episode of Carnivale (RIP). Out of curiousity though, if the first season of Lost is out on DVD, would that be worth buying?

Season 1 of Lost is pretty damn good. But (imo) it's not the type of show I'd want to buy. Most of the fun of Lost is the mystery and plot twists that are thrown at you left and right. Second and third viewings aren't nearly as much fun the first time around because you already know what's coming.

Alias is similar in that it has a lot of plot twists, but it's fun to watch over again cause it's got great action and some nice humor.

That's my reasoning for getting Alias over Lost (and is in fact why I have Alias but only rented Lost). But you really can't go wrong with either of them. They are probably two of the best TV shows ever.

The first season of Lost is out on dvd.

Its hard to say if its worth buying, as was stated above alot of the fun of lost is the mystery, after youve seen it once its not really as fun to watch. That being said if youve never seen it I'd say its worth the $40 (on sale) you can usually find it for, just to see it that once. I think theres a few commentary tracks and behind the scenes looks and that sorta crap if you get down on that stuff as well. The basic story is a plane crashes on an island, 40 some odd passengers survive, wierd stuff starts to happen.

Aside from Lost I'd say Arrested Development, again its kinda hard to say if one would like it, it seems to be you love it or you think its not funny at all. I really like it though. Outline is head of a family goes to jail for white collar crime, son takes over the bussiness and tries to rescue it while dealing with the rest of his family, who has never had to work. David Cross is in it, you cant go wrong with David Cross.

I can't recommend anything stronger than Firefly.

Although if you liked Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm is good as well.

Dead Like Me was fun.
While animated, I certainly wouldn't consider them anime:
Aeon Flux (the original MTV series)
Family Guy
