Well Dharma may not have known that it was a bad thing to do, they may have only done it once or twice.
I'm interested to hear how you would turn the wheel? One of those sledge pulling dogs maybe but they are smaller and arn't as dramatic as a fucking polar bear. Can dogs push something like that anyway?

I'd probably do something insane like take one of my dozens or even hundreds of manual labor type people that were roaming around the island doing stuff like sitting in their van getting drunk and say "Hey, you'll get an extra something in your paycheck if you go down here and push this wheel."

It is still illogical. There is no possible way you can make "train bears to turn wheel for unknown purpose, possibly only once" make more sense than sending a couple of Mexican migrant workers in parkas down there.

Yes... polar bears exist only at the north pole. I guess the theory would have more credibility if there was some kind of place you could see animals out of their natural habitat, or perhaps if we where dealing with an extremly rich multinational company reasearching crazy shit.

And yeah companies subject their workers to potentially fatal circumstances on purpose all the time, I guess. Damn I'm totally wrong.

He looks like he is in the middle of a desert in winter clothes. That is pretty close to being dead. Ben is an exception, Dharma grunts don't have plot armour like he does.

I want to know how you guys would turn the wheel without potentially killing somone. Assuming a living thing needs to do the turning; you would obviously use a machine and since Ben 'can't go back' and got teleported it seems like something needs to be doing the turning.

How about you use the time travel room that Ben blew up, create a duplicate of yourself like they accidentally did in the original orchid video, and have the duplicate push the wheel, like it will be shown Locke did. That doesn't even take supposition, they've given us all the pieces to that.
Even that makes more sense than trained polar bears.

Right, and I think that's exactly what will happen. And I think Ben's pointed comment about being punished was to show that he wasn't being "allowed" to do that.

Where is this time clone thing coming from? That rabbit thing was one rabbit from the present and one from the future.
If you teleport yourself in from the future then eventually you would experience life as both the present version of your self and the future one. If you teleport your future self into a random place on earth, eventually you will be pulled into the past and get teleported into a desert and probally die.
