| Funny thing, in the first few eps, I thought Locke was a nazi. Bald, creepy, has a thing for knives, plays backgammon with a black kid (y'know, white and black pieces). That would have been far more interesting. |

| It was about time they had a new episode. While it was a good episode it was really to far of a stetch for a small hauler plane like that to have been flown half way around the world. I really like this show but some of the things they do are really lame. For instance the preview for nexts week show makes it look like they are going to be on an episode of Survivor with the little ring of fire and crap like that. Still my favorite tv show at the momment. |

| No stretch at all really, since the island moves. Stop looking at it logically and look at the mythical explanation. And a circle of fire with the Others sounding them telling them its their island sounds bad ass.

I'm trying to decide if it's obvious or deceiving that they seem to be setting up a Locke vs. Eko scenario. They both share a profound experience of "looking in to the eye of the island" and we know Locke saw something beautiful, but not yet what Eko saw, if anything. The light vs. dark seeds were planted in season one with Backgammon and the stones Adam and Eve had. With Locke and Eko both being very very faith based, one being white, one being black, I can't help but feel like I reading in to all this. This is, of course, in opposition to the original seperation between Locke and Jack. One being a man of science, one being a man of faith. Personally I thought the smoke thing / electrical storm / monster was badass. One thing that started getting on my nerves in season two is that someone is always pissed off. I'm sure it was there in season one, but as someone said previously, in season two it feels very soap opera'ish. Originally they were scared, worried, stressed, and the tension was natural. With the inclusion of the tailies or what-have-you, Ana Lucia specifically, there's always a person that's pissed for the sake of being pissed. Like Claire at the end of the episode. She was completely unwilling to listen to a perfectly logical explanation Charlie had for having the statue and just threw a tantrum and tossed him out. There was no sort of, "Charlie I'm worried about you. I may even love you. Do you have a problem still, are you still using, can I help you through this?" It was just immediately GTFO you tosser. Anyways, I haven't checked any other boards yet to see what the public's response was to the episode. Or to see what sort of observations people smarter than myself might have had. And then there is the standard four day wait for the Television Without Pitty coverage. *edit: I forgot to mention above that Claire may yet be right in her decision to kick Charlie to the curb, but only we know that as a viewer since we are privledged to see his private stash of Virgins. | Also wanted to add that through TiVo (well, Moxi specifically) I have been able to pick out Jesus on the Cross, a Virgin Mary, and Eko's Brother as flashes in the smoke. And I don't mean like "this cloud looks like a triceratops sexing your sister" way. |

Did you expect her to just say "Oh, I see that you've got drugs. But I know you're a changed man, and I'm willing to believe that you had no idea there was heroin in this statue. Let's kiss and make up"? ![]() I agree with your assessment of the episode in other respects, though. I thought this was one of the strongest of Season 2, if not the strongest.

| And what about Walt? Do the Others have a computer somewhere where they are pushing buttons too or is he just sort of projecting himself to Michael the same way he was to Boone's sister; there is definitely something weird about Walt so everything is up in the air regarding him. I personally think Walt killed his own mother by making her get sick somehow, but that's pure speculation. I agree though, best episode of the year thus far hands down. Ekko 'coming out' as a priest should play out interestingly down the road; the upcoming confrontation between the survivors and the others should be pretty interesting as well. Best show on TV overall in my opinion, rivalled only by 24 which thank God starts up again this weekend. |
