| hm i thought it was so bad i was fully expecting to learn that the whole episode was some fake tv show they were all doing to help pass the time(tying in the flashback early with the chick). the acting felt so forced it was hard to differentiate the "normal" lost acting from the early flashback where nikki is blatantly overacting in the tv show. when the music picked up at the very end i thought they would wake up and we'd all be let in on the joke. cut to the sappy lost music and fade to black. unfortunately it was a serious episode that felt more like a late night USA channel made for tv horror movie then lost. |

| I think this episode was a "lets dig ourselves out of the hole we made earlier" episode. They introduced Nikki and Paulo, I guess they felt they had to introduce new characters because a) no actor wants to stay tied to a TV show indefinitely, eg eko, and b) some actors had trouble settling on Hawaii [michelle rodriguez and libby]... However the way they introduced Nikki and Paulo wasn't exactly done well, all of a sudden they were showing up in the background, thus the fan backlash against them was particularly hostile.. I dont think it was ever planned to kill them off so soon and is more of a case of pandering to the fans. |

| I never had any liking for these chracters since they just seemed so forced on the camera when they made an appearance. They probably would have stood a chance had they been introduced in season 2 or been brought to the island in a different manner. But trying to sell two characters that have never been mentioned or seen before after two full season is a stretch. Seems to me this episode is a direct result of fans rejecting them(though I have a feeling they're not actually dead). And Sawyer not being able to use nicknames is pissing me off. Is a week in Lost time up yet? |

| i have a feeling that when we watch these all in sequence on dvd later the introduction of Paolo and Nikki wont be such a bad...well juxtaposition for lack of a better term. Keep in mind that up to the point that they were introduced the losties had only been on the island like 50 days or so, but to us it seems forever because they crashed almost 2.5 years ago. The still have only been there a little over 80 days and we're halfway through season 3. Having watched season 2 all in about a 30 hour span on DVD it really did feel like things were happening in rapid succession, not as drawn out as waiting for each episode everyweek. It was the same thing with Arzt in season one...never heard of him before he decided to go with them to the Black Rock to get the TNT, and that was what, 2 or 3 episodes from the season finale? |

+20 Internets | Man when it opened with them dying I was like fuck yes, they're gone. Then they added the paralysis thing and I was like fuck fuck fuck, then they got buried alive and I'm happy again because that's the most kickass way to ever kill off a character. I like how she was worried about evidence from a lighter when they're robbing the dude but put her hands all over the safe and inside it and for some reason when the guy died the safe wasn't checked (even if only by his attorney). Why would you rob a man when you just got your big break anyway? If either one of them come back alive the episode was complete shit, as it stands right now I'm okay with it as far as filler episodes go. 90% of the episode I was pissed at yet another conflict on the island without another being resolved; I guess them being buried alive is the best way I could've imagined that episode ending. As far as the Locke/Submarine thing goes I hope you guys are right; that means the writers are actually thinking occasionally. Don't put much merit in the location of an explosion now, they didn't really blow up a submarine or something

+7 Internets | IIRC Nikki said that everything in the safe was "off the books". For all we know, the attorney might not have a clue about it. |

+20 Internets | <3 one line of text in a script to explain plot holes. I really hated the fact that they showed these seemingly unimportant characters discover EVERYTHING before everyone else. Shit the series would've been 10 episodes ahead of they had opened their damn mouth about STRANGERS MONITORING THEM from a station.

| I was quite willing to put up with this episode if it meant that the two characters I hate most on TV today were going to be killed off. Now that they're buried and forgotten waiting for the writers to dig up when they need some new plot twist just sickens me. Fuck this show for making the previous couple of episodes interesting again. |

| Watched the episode online last night, thought it was pretty decent. Ended up liking the Paulo character by the end, although Nikki is still a terrible actor. I bet that they will be back in some form, though. Couple the beginning where the director guy advises Nikki that they can find a way to bring her back next season, and the fact that Nikki and Paulo are buried on the beach in the same episode that Locke warns Paulo to not bury things on the beach, because it's eroding, and it seems like they have a plan to bring them back in some form. |

| The irony is that Locke is always joking that he's an ex-naval commander if I recall correctly.
