+7 Internets | They could have filmed all of Hurley's flashback scenes first, but it would be to time consuming to film the other epidoes while they waited for him to shed off some pounds. |

+6 Internets | Not to mention in one of the later 1st season episodes when Charlie asked him about it he said he was down 2 belt sizes or something like that.

| My feeling has been echoed by others, that Season 1 was probably the greatest season in a TV show ever, and that Season 2 is very disappointing to me at the moment. Interesting theory about "the others" being the people from the tail section of the plane. Although I must admit, the preview of Jin from next week made me go "Whoa!" Big time. My biggest hope however is that they don't do one of the total copouts for weird shows/movies. You know, stuff like aliens or a dream sequence before death or even that somebody(Locke or Walt or Claire's Psychic) has "powers" and wanted this to happen. |

+1 Internets | I thought a cool scene was the season finale at the end when Hurley was running late for the flight. They showed this slow motion clip of everybody getting on the plane, Hurley sweating his ass off, gives this thumbs up to Walt. Anybody else remember that? |

+7 Internets | That was one of my favorite parts of the entire first season, probably only beaten out by the scene when Hurley's cd player dies. |

It still could be the third cliche I presented though, someone wanted it this way. Actually, I think I'd prefer the whole series if they never tried to explain things in the end. Whatever explanation they offer is probably gonna piss me off. ![]()

| Well, one of the best things about Lost so far is that they've been absolutely brilliant at misdirection. Every time you're *sure* you've figured something out, or even when the show seems to answer a question, the writers throw in a OMGWTF moment that flips everything on it's ear. The writers have been really exceptional at sleight-of-hand... they'll lay out a storyline or flashback, sometimes even to the point of it being cliche, but then they have a huge reveal that smacks you upside the head. The great part about it is that they don't only use this device for the "main" storyline... they use it in flashbacks, in minor mysteries and in character development too. (Can anyone say "WTF, Locke's in a WHEELCHAIR?!?!?" hehe) I've been fascinated by how disciplined they've been about doling out pieces of each character's backstory, only bringing out new pieces exactly at the point it's needed to counterpoint a parallel story in "realtime" on the island. Anyway, probably the best TV show I've ever watched, at least to this point. I was a bit disappointed with last week's "it's a big science experiment" reveal, but I'm hoping a lot of it is just going to be yet another red herring to keep us guessing. |

If I remember correctly, which I could be way off, the guy Hurley heard the numbers from served with another man in the second world war (atleast I think it was WW2). While they were listening to static in the pacific, they heard the numbers. If I have the right war, that means those numbers have been transmited from the island long before it was used as part of the experiment.

| hehe guys, while the thought is appreciated, I don't think we need spoiler tags around episodes from last year. =) And yes to above... Hurley learned the numbers from Lenny, a guy in the psychiatric ward he was in. Lenny learned the numbers with a fella named Sam Toomey while they were stationed in a naval listening post in Kalgoorlie, Australia. Quote:

+7 Internets | Slight spoiler within the question below ... In last night's episode, we see a few flashback's of Shannon's life. When her father dies, since there is no will and only a "living trust", Shannon doesn't get any of his money. Is this what really happens in that kind of situation, or could Shannon hire a lawyer and get some of her dad's money? |

+20 Internets | If that's how they set it up then yes, she's out of luck. The money is left in trust for whoever he decided, in this case her step mother. The step mother would have no obligation (as far as I know) to give any of it to the daughter, if she didn't want to. However I don't think it's realistic. If you're wealthy like that, you have a fucking will. What if both are killed? Surely they'd have something in place to prevent their relatives fighting each other tooth and nail for the money. And I haven't really been watching it this season (or even last), but I follow it well enough. And I totally did not expect last night's ending. Nice to see they're willing to kill off major characters at a decent pace, gives me faith they won't try to drag the show on for years longer than it should. |
